I really don't give a rats what Roos thinks. He constantly talked about changing the culture on and off the field. Goodwin is taking action and should be applauded.

I seriously can't believe how much people are overrating Watts' importance to the team.

You have got to be kidding about that Roos part.

Where would we be without him coming on board? Talk about changing the culture... Goodwin is riding Roos' coattails.

Roos & the Ox have just increased Watts trade value... Top 5 Pick now. Lol

Surely MFC will backflip now. Sounds like his potential trade will put MFC in meltdown.

He is contracted. So it will be interesting to see what clubs will offer.

We shouldnt be talking about this if Jack pulled his finger out.

Watts for the two homesick GWS boys?

Would Kennedy and smith fit. If so watts and second rounder.

If it fails at least Carlton will need to step up.

Have always been a fan of watts and he has shown resilience that many others would not. Prefer him to stay but if he wishes out we owe it to him.

This trade period will be very interesting. Still think we should look at ac chee. Can get him for cheap as he is also out of contract. His younger brother in SA is a gun and he may want to play with his older brother.

List of targets

Lever

Gaff

Ac Chee

Kennedy GWS

Preuss (north ruckman)

Tom Lamb ( last round pick)

Motlop ( I know he is a risk but I think we learnt a lot from jurrah and believe under Jetta, Garlett and Ac Chee he would be guided well)

Most important is to improve our bottom end. Depth is essential and why I think the crows may do richmond on the weekend.

Unless hogan wants out he is going no where. Him and pedo could cause a lot of damage next year.

Any others we should look at?

I can deal with losing Watts but to hear there is divide and infighting? Maybe the questions asked of Goodwin are fair? We can't afford anymore of this off field crap, I guy like Lever could pull out or stay away in the future. We need to get this right.

Where Ian the talk of divide/infighting coming from?

No one who has any idea of what is going on inside the club

Should Roos really be saying anything? He chose goody as coach so should be backing in his decision not a good look

His comments were in relation to a question he was asked about Jack.  He was careful in his response.  He said he was a massive Jack Watts fan and he thought it would be a mistake to trade him, but he wasn't criticising the club and said he didn't know what was going on there.  He also made mention of outsiders commenting on the inner workings of a club when they weren't in full possession of the facts.

Funny time of the year. I really like Watts when he plays well, uses his skills, vision etc. Equally he frustrates hugely at times.

I don't actually care who we move on, as long as it helps our momentum continue into finals next year.

I'd prefer Lever to Watts if that was the choice. Not having a highly talked about player each week might help also, he seems to be the first question to anyone 15 weeks of the year.

We moved forward this year, I'm happy to back in Goody and PJ to do again next year. If they think Watts doesn't make a significant difference that's fine.

Time to trade, trade hard Demons.

Joel Smith to HFF.

They want to trade Watts. I don't see that as an issue if the club gets something of value in return and maybe sends the message to the playing group enough is enough. Fans in a huff about it is not a club divided.

Fair enough, this is a discussion board after all :)

I feel that if Jack's season hadn't been interrupted by injury (obviously not his fault) he would have rated ahead of Hartlett. But Hartlett did a lot of great intercept work this season was quite consistent. Hall beats both of them IMO - massive metres gained and even though he can be inconsistent, wins a heap of the ball and drives it long. He has that X factor with his ability to run and break lines too, so I rate him quite highly.

He also played well against us, which is admittedly the prime reason for a lot of my trade hype. I dont watch GCS on most other occasions.

The Ox was fairly adamant this afternoon that certain coaches and recruiters were against the trade..

Rubbish, let's not forget it was the great Roos who coached Melbourne to a 100 point loss this time last year. The crap being dished out to Goodwin is bordering on pathetic.

This is the same David Schwarz who declared we should trade him only a few years ago.

I love the Ox, but he can't have his cake and eat it too.

Makes me wonder if they are playing along with this talk so we get a decent return for Jack in a trade. Who knows mate, it's all smoke n mirrors out there.

Just because he chose him as his successor it doesn't mean he should agree with everything he says and does. Goodwin wouldn't want him to either. Being an AFL coach appears to be a very tough job. Roos questioning Goodwin's possible trade scenario's would be the least of his worries.

Thanks grazman, that puts it into context. It's a shame the OP couldn't do the same.

Port have some okay outside runners that may be worth a look.

I wonder if they'd package up jake Neade and Sam grey for us?

You are responding to my comment about the change in our culture. That is all Roos. The people he brought in from Sydney on day one, yes, even bringing in Goodwin, but the club needed to be altered - Jackson chased him down and Roos delivered.

Agree with that RPFC but i do think Goodwin deserves more credit than he is given for helping change the culture of the place

Isn't it hilarious.

The media have been saying we should part ways with Jack for years and years and then, when it actuallly looks like something might happen, these same people ask wtf are we doing.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
