Disagree.
We are not a quick side and have even said we were looking at outside run and identified Smith as a possible, for a 3 year contract.

Just because we had a purple patch in the second half of 2018 doesn’t make us a quick side.

I think most would agree that Blues and Saints are quicker sides than us and they keep loading up on pace.

Carlton are not quick just Bs with no proof what so ever, neither are the saints.

I don't know what planet you are living on if you think Carlton aren't quick? it's about the only thing theyve had going for them for years.

When did 31 or 33 become third round?

My bad.

I saw a whole lot of 3s in the picks and told myself it was a third rounder.

Point remains: Brown for pick 31 or 33 is a good result (assuming the only other net loss is a slide back from 26 to 28).

I think North are probably wanting to do the same and have more to offer?

I am now looking forward to see what we do with the rest of the picks?

Happy with that. Package up 31 and 33 for the bully's 1st rounder

Hope you're right and it makes sense as they only need picks for value to match Ugle-Hagan bids. Pick 14 = 1161. Picks 28 + 33 = 1240. Maybe they've agreed to whatever the deal is going to be in consultation with Doggies on what they will accept. This would leave us with 14, 43, 50, 68, 69, 89. Sounds like there will also be some late pick swaps. So a reasonable hand at the draft. Obviously must have someone in mind to get up to pick 14.

One can only hope on that result. Would be great to land Brown and get back a Round 1 pick.

with the compo picks, f/s picks and academy picks, pick 31 and 33 will definitely end up 3 rounders

That is a very good deal - essentially Brown for a late second round.

The forwards coach is not the only coach that has a BIG job in 21.

The entire coaching panel do.

Anything other than a first round pick was always going to be an absolute steal.

The net trade of Preuss for Ben Brown is the most outrageous piece of swindling since that Canadian bloke traded a paperclip for a house.

The Dogs will want more points premium than that - they're currently 600 short of a bid for JUH at pick 1.

The best bet for them would be 14 + a fringe player for the 1800 pints they need.

For example 14 + Ed Richards for 28 + 33 + 43 + 50 would get them there.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
