Unless I am being told a porky, someone very close to Ben Brown has confirmed he's 100% to Dees. Bombers have offered him big big money, yet he's happy to take less to come to the Dees. Eat a ? bombers ?

Also apparently he played with a floating bone in his knee most of the year which would've been a big part of his performance drop this year. Since his surgery recently, he is ready to roll.

Very exciting - sounds like he should return to strong form*

*as long as the Dees learn to kick inside 50 and don't bomb it over his head...

The last time statements like this were made on DL ...

Based on that looks like Burgess is staying put which is hopefully right.

I thought the same. Great news even on it's own if true.

It was very encouraging (and also a huge surprise) to see that Sam Weideman was among our leaders for distance covered this season.

He will need to get on the move next season if we get Brown. Can't have both of them playing out of the goal square.

Which is exactly why i started with the line "Unless I am being told a porky"

The person is a family member of his, so it's pretty reliable. Until he signs on the dotted line I guess there is always room for a cheeky bombshell to strike. We are Dees supporters though... so I guess none of us would be surprised if we were let down again ?

I'm disappointed you quoted a colliwobble barracker (clearly not a supporter b/c they pay money)

I believe that, unless there is a very big u-turn by him or us, Brown will be a Dee next year. 90/10 rating.

900% confidence?!

Nah.... 9 times out of 10, given the present situation, a deal would get done. So, 90% confidence.

I was being facetious :)

Nothings a given until he's signed on the bottom line but love the mail and looking promising, cheers for sharing ?

He won't be going to the Dons until @Dr evil says he's 100% going to the Dees.

Jeffy Garlett - I didn’t dislike him at Carlton, but I loved him in the red and the blue.

Jordan Lewis, Byron Pickett and Gary Moorcroft come to mind.

Bernie Vince is possibly my favourite ever Demon.

The jumper didn't save this bloke.

Agree on Bernie - legend!

Hopefully not also related in some way to Judd's grandmother.

I’d like Weideman to do all sorts of things, perhaps with another club! I’m doubting our investment in him will pay off. FWIW I would retain Tom while trying to get Brown . The Weid would be very tradeable

Ok then.

And I'm glad you aren't our list manager

Even if Brown wanted a little more re EFC offer @cooko, I say take the risk and postpone any list re-signing complications for another year and see how we go with an actual KPF. They'll be taking unders to keep the squad together if we're winning finals next year and members are signing up. If we miss out on BB, finish where we are now again or worse, then even a mega deal allowed by smart cap allocation will be turned down by Oliver for success elsewhere.

Is it actually confirmed that Essendon have made an offer to BB or is it demonland confirmed?

We need to take it on now. Like those old cats, we need to grab our chance. Trac,Clarry,Maxy,May,Langers & JV can get it done. Get a few gaps fixed and a coach with some balls to bring it home. We’re not waiting around and seeing everyone else improve their list. If your not getting better, you’ve already gone backwards.

At 200 cm I imagine doing sudden u-turns isn't his forte

Ballsy call. i don't think even @Dr evil would go as far as 900% certain. ?

Hope so, can deals get done over the weekend, or is just during the week?

Time is rolling; this matter of attention (Brown's recruitment to the Dees) is desiccating in a mire of uncertainties. Time for the MFC to get that contract underweigh and onto the past history page so we all can move on. An announcement, please, with the utmost focus and timeliness.

It's done. Dee's just working out how to structure salary which will depend on Tmac and other ins/outs

9 out of 10 = 90%

90 out of 10 = 900%

Perhaps we need an expert to adjudicate. Do we have a mathematician in the house?

If 10 people say that they are 90% certain something will happen, does that make it 900% certain to happen?

if so, I just need to find 9 mates.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
