Too many pathetic efforts today.

Dare I say it, but Goodwin was outcoached by Brad Scott. He opted to swing Lewis instead of T.McDonald. Ben Brown and Waite (early on) killed us in the 1st and 3rd quarters. Jetta was often left on one. Very poor coaching decision to leave T.McDonald in the forward line all day.

The team over-used the handball.

Lewis was attrocious. He gave other players a couple of sprays when yet he was one of the worst afield. His poor kick that went to two North players resulted in Hogan's injury.

ANB, JKH, and Trengove were far from it. Watts and Viney were also quite poor in comparison to their usual standards.

As for umpiring, week in week out we are screwed over.

We were waiting to get beaten. I said it in the game day thread and I was right.

Heads came off and pumpkins came on.

Entries into the fifty in that last quarter were pathetic. Ever heard of dropping your friggin' eyes?

Note to players: Remember those days when Neeldy told you to bomb the ball onto Mitch Clark's head? How that was a horrible game plan entering the fifty?

Don't do that.

If you do that, you lose games. In those days, it caused you to get pantsed. These days it causes you to lose gimme games against North.

THIS game showed that we are nowhere near mentally ready to compete for a flag. If lower table teams can maintain this type of hold on us, what do you think the big boys will do to us on the main stage?

As (former) prominent Demon supporter Derryn Hinch used to say 'Shame, shame, shame.'

Never watching a Melbourne v North game ever again until we beat them. [censored] hate losing to that rabble. It's torture watching us play them

Forget North. How much do they need on the line. Chance of a top four spot, Chance to bury the so called North hoodoo, chance to be called a real football team, chance to repay the supporters. I do not want to hear how upset or gutted the players are don't want to hear how they will fight back next week. This is the first time this year that I could not find a positive. Might take a pill and lay down for a while.

Cannot ever trust this club!  More than disgusting! Putrid and frankly have had a gutful.

weak minded players beaten by a team who teach us what mental strength is.

YOU ARE WEAK MFC....effing WEAK!

I'm done. That was an absolutely shocking performance.

After everything we've been through the past 10 years, now you're done?

Suit yourself.

What a waste of time and money. 2 goals in the second half, against the second bottom placed team.

Might come back fishing one day, but the ground is a disgrace. Queues and viewing conditions atrocious. Reckon it's a worse viewing ground than Simmonds, so hats off Tassie.

I heard someone say we didn't want it. Spot on.

A chance to consolidate a place in the eight and we lacked the toughness to beat a side well below us.

We folded again when we needed to stand up - it was a really terrible/weak performance in a crucial game

And to top it off ................... we make clown head look like Tony Lockett .....again!

[censored] disappointing!

So north were tanking? What perfect propaganda to rope a dope us in again for the 17th time. Seriously we make their midfield look like premiership material. Second to the ball, half arsed tackling. WTF were we supposed to sail in with the gale in the last quarter?

Time to face the truth- the players are all mercenaries. They don't care about the club or the supporters, they don't care about losing to a rabble like the NMFC, at the end of the day they all get rich off the membership money we all pay and the merchandise we purchase. Absolutely disgusted with today

This is a hard loss to cop given what was at stake. It shows we still have that soft underbelly. Too many passengers - Hannan, ANB, Trengove and even Petracca. Garletts missed set shot was terrible - made worse by the fact he seemed to find it funny. Watts is back to his insipid self. Hobart is a shocking place to play footy - a bit like Casey. Overall totally pizzed off.

Look forward to seeing the over the top reactions of some temper as the week goes on.

We looked flat at times throughout the game and turned the ball over but North won this game. They played better for four quarters, had a better game plan with their forward structure and played the ground far better especially in the last quarter. They were so much more composed then us. Kudos given to North.

This team is going to continue to drop games as they're still young, (missing some experience yesterday which might have helped). It's just a reality. I hope the team can move on quickly and realise they're every chance to beat GWS who looked shaky once again against Freo.

I think if we can make the 8 this season it would be a terrific accomplishment. Clearly we not quite ready to have a greater impact. We can build from there for years to come.

I was absolutely seething yesterday afternoon... After a few beers pondering by myself around the fire pit outside I came to peace with it all. This year is just not ment to be our year, it never was but when you add in all the injuries, suspensions, health problems we have faced it seriously wasn't going to be our year. Yeah people will throw up "but it's an open year anyone can win it" truth is we aren't good enough yet, we are still young & in year ONE of Goodwin with the full reins... You look at the Dogs of 2015, we are probably about the same at this stage we make an elimination final & maybe we win, maybe we don't but this side is going places and if people can't see that I feel sorry for them. We've gone from an absolute basket case for 10 years, it just doesn't turn at the flick of a switch. This side is still learning and you gotta learn to walk before you run. Let's all just enjoy the fact that we are in with a more than good chance of playing in September, lets enjoy the ride for the last month of the season. It's the least we all deserve after the last decade.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
