I was surprised that, with the pain he was in, he had not been transferred to hospital for the best possible pain management. Had the game been in Melbourne I believe this would have happened. Perhaps there was no-one to coordinate this until the match was over? If games in Darwin lead to sub standard care I am even more opposed to them.

Ok here's a challenge to you Smokie.

Start a thread on a topic about the Demons, voice your opinions on it and then see if people are interested in it.

I would have thought the fact that so many of us have read this thread already means it was a good topic.

And whilst a lot of us disagree with his summation, it's still a very worthy topic. The image of Kent all alone in a room having a Nicky Riewoldt was a lasting one from the game for most of us along with Sloaney staggering like a drunk and telling his medical staff to f.. off.

Once I feel I have something meaningful to bring up in conversation, that is without uneducated assertions, ridiculous assumptions and baseless finger pointing at the professionals that run our footy team - I surely will start a thread Deespicable.

I did the same thing once. It was actually getting the ball off the roof and I fell off the ladder. The pain is F%$kin bad.

I've still got the X-Rays from Dick Whittington Hospital. Travel Insurance came through and got her onto the earliest QANTUS flight they could. The hospital put her into a temporary cast with a big split down the middle. This allowed her to fly, as it allowed expansion of the foot; mostly due to the lower air pressure.

When she got home she got a monstrous screw and a heap of wire in the foot, which then went into a moonboot. She was not allowed to put any pressure on it for three months. The doctor said that, if she followed instructions, she would make a 100% recovery, and she did.

She has gone back to London again. She will probably be home in a couple of years and she can come to the footy with me again.

The waiting time at Darwin Hospital is atrocious, especially on a Saturday night. And you have to pay for your own parking. Quicker to fly Dean to Melbourne for treatment and save the hassle of searching Goodie's glove-box for coins to feed the meter. Club made the right call.

Wow, she is one strong and brave woman, sounds like a very bad break, glad she is ok, it would have been stressful going through something like that in your own country, little alone over seas, 

Tell her book her flight home because the next few years we will be winning that flag,so you both can be there together to watch it.

Is that the Dick Whittington hospital in Archway near the bottom of Highgate Hill? I lived walking distance from there close to Archway tube station in the mid 70's. I even spent a night there.

I'm tipping he was in extra pain at the thought of his comeback being over... Or maybe he is like me and 2 shots of morphine didn't do anything to stop the pain (not great when you have a kidney stone)

im signing off on this topic, but before I do so, at a gathering involving a number of doctors yesterday, several of whom had seen the footage, a unanimous view was expressed that his arm should have been supported not merely by a sling, but also by a cushion or pillow. Far from suggesting negligence, what I was querying in my original post was whether in Darwin resources available to medical staff are as adequate as in Melbourne.

Was it his first shoulder dislocation?  If so could he be back in a few weeks, maybe?   (I know Joel Smith missed a lot longer, but he was being handled with kid gloves due to his youth and future prospects.  Dean is fighting for a place on the list so may push earlier)

I think Smith had surgery, which ruled him out for longer.  If it was a simple sublux then maybe a few weeks and buckets of strapping.  Lets see what Misson says.  Interesting no follow up in the media at all (I suppose he ain't dangerfield)

This answer doesn't help me much, but thanks for replying.

What "vicious" or hurtful comments are you talking about ?

Is it simply posters saying he should be dropped ?  Was some other critique about his footballing prowess, like not being able to keep his feet or turning it over with poor decisions or footskills ?

Are these the types of vicious comments you're referring to ?  Or do you have other examples ?

EDIT: I'm not privy to any "piece" on Jones.

Apparently Dean is still in Darwin in the cool room. They forgot him completely.

Its a little embarrassing but because he was looking so sad no one wanted to go in and speak with him. As a result the rest of the players have travelled back to Melbourne without him and in addition to Dean's shoulder injury he now has frostbite and will lose three limbs.

He is hoping to return in round 23.
