Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Flavour of the Month.

The Media and TV will be all over us this week for sure.

Hopefully we "take it one week at a time"

The wheels have fallen off the tiggy train. The media down here need to talk about another Victorian team other than Geelong,  and it very well could be us.

The dees are red hot, but we all know not too get too far ahead of ourselves.

I think those saying we won't get much focus are a little naive.

After the Adelaide win, Robbo was singing our praises on AFL360, as was GW. So I expect quite a bit of that this week. Healy also pumps us up when we're playing well.

Still, a bit of pressure like that in the media is a good test for a young side.

If we're going to win a final, the best time to deal with that pressure is in the home and away games.

That'll be the talking point - as it is alreadyfrom the AFL websites 'Things we learned this week'. In all seriousness - whilst no one can fault the dogs finals series last year, they did finish 7th - not 1st - and the competition has had roughly a decade of premiers being a powerhouse team - you just can't look at the Dogs of '16 through the same lens  and suggest that they have a premiership hangover... its not fair on them in actuality.

Exactly, all this talk of "in a few years" is nonsense, we can win it now because the competition is so even.

Having said that, because the competition is so even it means a lot of teams could win it this year.

We're the only team to presently be on a three game winning streak.  I looked at the ladder and got a touch of vertigo.

The view is nice from up here Nasher. I thought we would never see it again!

The media, including many of the exfootballer expert types are so fickle it's not funny.  Go back three or four weeks and they were talking up St Kilda as being ahead of where we are.

I think our ladder position is finally starting to reflect where we are at as a side this year.  Particulaly with the drop off of Hawthorn and Sydney, I'm with others here saying there is no team I fear in the comp.  We have either beaten or been very competitive against every team in the comp over the last two years and we have definitely moved forward this year, closing the gap between our best and worst, our percentage proves it - Roos was very right on that measure.

we may be a flavour but it'll be called  "sweet or sour "   are they the real Deel ?? etc etc

we could win the flag and there'd be the shlts in the media ( we know who you are, and we know you read this !! ) who would still offer up something like " Did Melbourne deserve the cup ? " etc

There's a clique  out there in media land who just aren't into us..

It's them....not us ;)

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
