Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 6

Would not be surprised to see Tom McDonald go forward.. He has struggled on Daniher in the past & isn't in the greatest of form. I think Frost is a better match up for Daniher anyway, & Oscar goes to Hooker.

If they're looking at a novel way to deal with the ruck problem, perhaps they might rotate ruckmen in every quarter - Pedo, Tom McDonald, Oscar McDonald with the freshest or best getting the final quarter and Jack Watts filling in with 5 minute stints when each ruckman is off the ground.

T Mac almost single handedly won us the game against the Dons in 2015 when they threw up forward in the last qtr and he kicked 1.3. Was an absolute handful for the Dons.

He's not up to playing on Daniher, so this week might be the week to start him in attack. We could always thrown him back if our defence falls apart.

The decisive factor will be our delivery into the f50.

If the team we've picked doesn't make our mids lower their eyes, then nothing can.

Even kicking grubbers into the forward line would be better than bombing it like we did last week. No point bombing it in when there's only one tall forward. In fact, if they don't have a hittable target, they're probably better to just aim low & hard for a space. The more we can keep the ball on the ground, the better for us.

We are making way too many unforced changes this year. There's a lot to be said for a settled team and injuries aside, I feel like Goodwin is playing Yoyo with team selections this season.

Why the hell drop Stretch?

Melksham a better option than Harmes or Stretch?

Dear lord.

I agree track. We lose one of our best link men and most effective ball users. Better to swap an ordinary player in Melk down back with another in O-Mac.

Shld hav been ANB for Bugg.

We will get pantsed

I like Billy but he has been ordinary the last 2 weeks.  Failed to move the ball on quickly.

Watts sustained about 50% quality game time in the ruck against Geelong and Richmond.  I expect similar from Pedersen - they can't ruck as long as proper ruckmen.

It's an absolute certainty that one of Weed or Omac will play.  If Watts and Pedersen take all the ruck then it will be Weed.  If TMac or Frost take some then it will be Omac.

That means 2 of the smalls come out - Salem, Tyson, Stretch, Bugg, Harmes.

Selection sanity prevails.

Difference being that Hibberd won the football and used it well. It is hard to lay a tackle when you have the ball.

Not only does Melksham not tackle, but he doesn't get many possessions and gives half of those straight back to the opposition.

Disagree. He had one week he executed poorly. Is getting high teens possessions and cant recall any small-mid forward carving him up. Rebounding defenders rarely get may tackles.

Pedersen and Watts were the only two who seemed to be rucking today.

Expect some chop outs from others very occasionally.

Not really sure where the 'play Tom McDonald in the ruck' came from, but it doesn't seem likely, unless it's for a moment or two during the match.

I dont get playing O-Mac unless one of he, T-Mac or Frost are playing ruck or forward.

Epically short turnaround. No coincidence that it's young players dropped. Essendon have made a squillion changes for the same reason.

I thought he looked cooked early, makes Trenners look quick! Couldnt believe how slow he looked!

Must be a decent chance to be a late out.  Would prefer his fat ass played though.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
