I have nothing to base this upon.

I'm wondering who's more interested in whom ?

Who instigated what ? ?

The big dollar offer suggests to me that we knocked on his door.

I must admit I am a little surprised because Adelaide are a chance to win the flag.

Getting the trade over the line will be tough if he does choose us

Go on Chook, give us a little more. You know you want to!

If I can recall, Chook has a fair few runs on the board. This will be interesting.

Just get the deal done. Watts, Frost and a first rounder should get it done.

Frost won't get it done he's not in our best 22 and Watts is barely in our best 22. If I was Adelaide I would want a senior player and a first rounder.

Adelaide aren't in the box seat here perhaps ! ;)

What I can confirm is only that we are pursuing Lever aggressively and Lever has indicated he may be interested in joining the Dees.

This is nothing more than what is out there in the media.

Whether it happens, what the size and length of the contract being discussed and what the potential trade I have no idea. I am sure Adelaide will go all out to keep him, and we are also competing with other clubs.

However, at this stage we are the clear favorites.  A finals win or two will really help. Increase likelihood of Lever choosing Dees and increase value of our players.  You would think a best 22 player or highly rated junior will likely be traded as part of deal.

Oh well I'm convinced...

Give it up, scoop.

Dees aren't going to give up overs for this kid.

Tom Mitchell was traded for pick 14, omeara pick 10 and 2018 second round, hibberd pick 29, Lachie Henderson future first round pick, Prestia pick 6.

lever isn't better than any of the above.

melbournes first round pick this year should do the deal and at worst 2nd round next year.

im glad some of the posters here are not deciding the future of the club.

we should keep our first round in lieu of getting experienced/high credential player elsewhere. There are always going to be a champion or a future champion out there in the draft. The 2nd rounder and a player should be the way to go re-trade.

No!  What makes you think this?

Tom and Oscar are in totally different contract positions.  Tom is an UFA next year so he will be looking at all his options, regardless of what happens with little bro.

And, Oscar is more than good enough to earn a contract in his own right without being carried on big bro's coat tails.  There will be other clubs coming at Oscar next year!

It is really important to sign Tom up asap to avoid a UFA media beat up in 2018.  Last time he signed for only 2 years because he wanted to see how the club progressed.  He has his answer.  I think he will stay on a long term contract.  He wouldn't want to bail now.

The last extension the brothers signed at the same time for the same length. Seems more than a coincidence. And Tomald's reasoning for the short extension shouldn't be taken at face-value - anyone with even minimal insight could discern the direction in which our club was finally heading.

Just to be clear - the suggestion wasn't a knock on Oscar. He was drafted and can earn a contract extension in his own right. But with UFA looming, Tomald can make it pretty clear he wants to play with his brother into the future. We're not going to match an offer if he signals his intent to depart.

Hence, if we're looking to jettison a tall defender to make room for Lever, Then there may be some extra-normal considerations that are coming into play - or at least Omac could get the express nod over Frost in what might otherwise be a coin-toss.

They have the same manager so doing the contracts at the same time makes sense.

Also, 2 years is the initial renewal term for a recent draftee.  Hunt, Petracca, Brayshaw etc had 2 years on initial renewal.  So Oscar got the standard 2 years.

The club wanted Tom to sign a long-term contract as he was in hot demand.  He declined.  He signed for 2 years as it takes him to 8 years with the club ie he has Unrestricted Free Agent status.  Tom had seen so many false dawns that even if blind freddy could see the direction we were going there was still serious doubt.

I don't see any signs of a brotherly bloc.  But I will leave it at that as I have no more facts to offer.

I agree we shouldn't be giving overs but I would have him ahead of Prestia any day of the week. Prestia is butcher of the highest order.

I'm with you. The guy hasn't played 50 games yet but these types of players don't grow on trees.

It won't cost anything like that

I've been sniffing around the Crows forums

Apparently Lever is overrated and can't defend one on one

Sssshhhhh  !

We'll call it a truce LH as I have no facts to offer either - but I do believe the evidence you provided actually points to what I'm saying.

I had a cheeky peek too.  Most are resigned to him leaving and saw decent value in the Frost + a pick proposal.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
