Demon Injuries 2017 season

JKH is cursed...surely

This is all David Kings fault...... or maybe Jack Watts

Injuries are part of Football. The lord giveth, the lord taketh away. Remarkable how often sheer bad luck descends on the chosen few. I wish them all the best. I really feel for them. Every club seems to have that tragic warrior. Once again, I really feel for those poor baaastards.

Watts lacking intensity, Kent back, Ben Ken battling something, JKH arm, Vanders foot, Garlett hammy and Hannan got his teeth knocked out. Not a great time to be a demon half forward right now!

ANB playing half forward in round 1? That worries me.

I wouldn't mind a look at Hannan if he's right to go against the Eagles.

And if Jetta isn't first choice as a defender these days I'd try him as a pressure forward, he did have some decent games there back in the day.

I don't want to jinx us but there a time was when we were showing promise and the injuries that crippled us were Swatrz, Lyon, Tingay etc...

Our current list has serious x-factor on every iine now.

We can cope with the above injuries.

Going to be tough to beat St Kilda without a half forward line.

Hopefully the Saints players are like Spud Frawley and think Alex and Neal Bullen are two different people. They won't be able to stop him.

Real disappointed for JKH. Spoke with him at Family Day, real nice young bloke. He was excited about the season and potentially breaking into the 22. Hopefully its just the 4 weeks but you`d expect Jeffy to be well back by then and he may miss his chance and have to dominate at Casey to get a look in.

Hoping JKH can keep the running up to maintain his tank. Looking forward to seeing what he can do this year.

JKH with a broken arm, out for four weeks.

vandenBerg with a foot injury, not sure how bad.

Poor guy - just cannot take a trick.

Speedy recovery, JKH.

I am more concerned about VDB, maybe his body is just not made for AFL with constant ankle and now potential foot issues. We are certainly looking at lacking some small forward spark for round 1.

...not to mention GWS in the Granny. :(

I'd like to see Trengove tried as a half forward if fully fit. The guy is a great mark and a reliable set shot. With Vanders out great chance to see if he could play that role.

Injuries will happen and, with all due respect to the players involved, I'm just relieved that it's not one of our key players.  We won't avoid injuries during the year so if we can minimise their impact as best we can then we should be okay.

It will be interesting to see who plays as the smaller type forwards next week against West Coast.  Kent may be right by then, but it may give someone like a Johnstone, Trengove or ANB a look in for Round 1.  Hopefully someone bobs up and takes their chance.

I don't get it. Yes it's disappointing for JKH and AVB but they were not going to be best 22 players anyway. They've already said Kent, Tyson and Jetta will be right against WCE. We'll have to wait  and see on Garlett

Both were in my best 22 for round 1. Kent and Garlett might both be ok to play but I would've taken the fit and healthy guys in over them. Garlett after a month off and Kent after just 1 decent run aren't ideal.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
