Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I haven't commented in much detail about the activity this morning as it seemed to be relatively low key, going through the motions. The weather is quite warm and humid in Melbourne today and there was a light breeze blowing across Gosch's Paddock. I did notice that McDonald and Pederson were doing a lot of the stuff with the main group, Melksham was also back into the main program. There were no real stand outs for me... but Petracca looked clean (Oscar not so!), Lewis was notably accurate by foot (even surprising himself with one right foot pass that hit its mark... much to the skipper's joy!). Spencer looks fit and ready on standby should the unthinkable happen! Jack Viney loved being involved in the main program and Bernie always delights with his skill by foot and hand.

Got here a little early, had a chat to Dom Tyson. He is waiting on scans on his right knee. Doesn't know the outcome yet. Hopes that he has enough in the bank to make round 1 if the scans are positive. He is just walking laps this morning

Thanks for the posts WW.

Did Dom Tyson say when he injured the knee?

My standout at training today was Hunt.. he reads the play beautifully and has license to leave his man to intercept, which he did often

We have a real beauty there.

Watching these Hunt highlights  really reinforced how quick he is but also as you say how well he reads the ball. He uses these skills in tandem to cover loose men so well, a skill that is critical in the modern game with its use of zones. he is super gutsy as well.

There has been a bit of talk about Alan Johnson in the favorite and best players threads and in some respects Hunt shares some similar traits. There are a couple of very short bits of AJ play in this video but they demonstrate my point a little bit, particularly his dash.

There were casualties:-

Melbourne players put through punishing training session in return from Christmas break

"Colin Garland tweaked his ankle in a full-ground drill, while prime mover Dom Tyson walked off the track before training even started with a knee complaint.

"Tyson hurt the knee before Christmas but was making inroads in his recovery."

WW reported that Tyson is still waiting for the result of scans. It's 1½ weeks since Christmas so if it was really so serious, why the delay?

Maybe they thought it was ok but it didn't settle as hoped over the XMAS break?

They've done a good job keeping the camp on the low down. I thought it was only for the first and second year players but that leaves tyson out so perhaps it was the whole squad. Bell, ProDee, Drunkn167 any intel on this?

Answering my own question. Hogan and Kent back next Monday

" The 21-year-old is still in Perth, with the club giving him and teammate Dean Kent an extended break with family. "

He's gone!

(Isn't it nice to not have to say that this year)

Is it possible that the scan is a second or subsequent one to see how the recovery is progressing?

We've been due for a little bit of bad luck.  Every club seems to get some throughout the pre-season, we just need to hope that the damage is minimal and won't affect their lead up too much to Round 1.

Dom Tyson was hobbling noticebly as he walked a couple of laps.  He told Saty & me that he had injured his quad, and used the dreaded "4 to 6" when Saty asked "how long?"

I'm down from Canberra for a few days, and of course, training was an important part of the itinerary.  The highlights for me  were:

-  the overall intensity of the work.  The pace was high for the full two and a bit hours of the session (in very warm conditions), and the tackling was 'for keeps'.

-  the camraderie between the boys was palpable. Voice and high fives throughout.

-  Hunty and Billy look absolutuly 'ripped,' and I'm sure the coaches would have been rapt with their track work today.  Very excting.

-  Jordan Lewis.  So very clean and professional.  Will be an outstanding acquisition for us in 2017.

-  Maxy's leadership.  Directing traffic and encouraging others.  An aspect l hadn't  seen at the admittedly limited number of training sessions I can get to.

-  meeting a few Demonlanders for the first time.  Believe it or not, they are actually 'real' people.

The whole group just before the xmas break went on a Boot Camp style, high intensity, sleep depreviation camp with a few ex-special forces guys. The whole squad went. I don't know if I can give out specifics of what they did but I believe there will me a media release/video of the camp.

What I do wanna say is over the 3 days, they had less then 2 hours sleep, while doing more intense physical work then they ever have at any training session. Was some crazy stuff.

Thanks Drunkn. I bet DC is felling the pinch.

In my (much) younger days i had a few sessions of 3 days with only a couple of hours sleep, but it had nothing to do with football.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
