Would it seriously hurt to give this guy a crack on the rookie list where a full time professional environment could do him good? Been a shining light over the finals series and at 192cm and 92kg he could add depth next year as a 3rd tall while Weidemen and Hulett continue to develop.

He'd be a massive upgrade on Dawes, and has that Russell Robertson X Factor where he can pull marks out of his ass from no where.

What i also love about him is his forward pressure and tackling, something our tall forwards struggle to do. Hits them hard and harasses when inside 50.

31 goals this year which is a great effort.

Thoughts?

A must get IMO for all the above reasons. You left out one aspect Dazzle.....

He's a dead eye dick in front of goal! Something you can't buy in today's game where most players are about 50/50 and many others extremely unreliable (i wont point any fingers!).

If you want some reward on the end of all our hard work....plus all of the above, Tim Smith is a must. However,  no point if his heart isn't in it. Has to obviously want the challenge and be willing to work his ass off pre season. The step up is pretty harsh.

In addition he would be a nice fit in the salary cap.

How he is not on a list yet but many others (who shall remain nameless) are, is astounding.

Tweet from Paul Amy who writes mainly about the VFL in winter sports and is a well respected journo -

"Won't be a surprise if @CaseyScorpions forward 'Bull' Smith gets an AFL listing at age 25. At least two clubs are talking about drafting him"

Would love to use a late pick on him and give him a shot.

Impressive when these guys can perform while holding down a full time job against guys whose only job is to play football.

I'd like to give him a shot at it, either late draft or rookie.

Love Smith and really hope he gets a shot at it.

Doubt it will be us, but who knows?

I haven't seen him but those who have - are you seeing a late bloomer like James Podsialy?    Surely we could only rookie him at best given our draft numbers.

He's an undersized key forward. The big issue has been consistency for him. Points in his favour are his marking and accurate goal-kicking. He's also improved his defensive game this year.  If he were to get picked up, I could see him playing a Howe-style forward role but with better defensive efforts. He likes to take a screamer, but probably not as often or as high as Howe. The real question I think is if the club trusts his effort off-field.

J Pod was a seriously good goal kicker who adapted better than a lot of clubs thought to AFL. Smith isn't the same player. Doesn't have the size or goal kicking.

If he was to make AFL it would be on the back of rounding out his game with good forward pressure, ability to get up the ground and then some marking and goal kicking. He's nicknamed Bull and impressed with his follow up work this year. I think he'd be somewhere between a mix of Tory Dickson from the Dogs and Vanders for us. A 3rd tall who can provide a contest in the air and on the ground.

Hope he can play because as a comedian his material is very 90's.

Dad jokes and mundane observation seem to be the preserve of Demonland and I'm chuffed he has moved on, lost wieght and found something useful to do with himself.

Absolutely wrapt with this pick! He's worked hard to improve his consistency this year, which was the only thing previously holding him

back in years prior, really looking forward to see if they give him a crack in the NAB Challenge, as he's already big and strong enough to

compete at that level.

Great news for Smith, as others have said here is hoping the full time side of things allows him to develop further. He's not on the full list just yet but he has given himself a shot.

Fantastic results for the Casey alignment too.

Hopefully this draws more young talent to Casey to top up the club if some of the overlooked guys see it as a pathway to AFL.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
