Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Would it seriously hurt to give this guy a crack on the rookie list where a full time professional environment could do him good? Been a shining light over the finals series and at 192cm and 92kg he could add depth next year as a 3rd tall while Weidemen and Hulett continue to develop.

He'd be a massive upgrade on Dawes, and has that Russell Robertson X Factor where he can pull marks out of his ass from no where.

What i also love about him is his forward pressure and tackling, something our tall forwards struggle to do. Hits them hard and harasses when inside 50.

31 goals this year which is a great effort.

Thoughts?

He'll get a gig somewhere. Have to say I can't believe he's 192cm. Just from the little footage I've seen of him I'd always assumed he were a small forward, maybe 180cm.

I've been wanting him on our list for the past couple of years. I thought he had some talent to explore.

Now maybe he is mature enough?  Don't know why he hasn't been rookied before now.

I hope we do.  They're is a bit of Brett Lovett about him in some way?

Is the rookie list continuing next year? I think it's AFLPA that wants it scrapped and playing lists extended (mainly to up the pay of those who would previously have been rookies). Would the change matter anyway, if the club wanted him?

I've seen him play quite a few times and add my enthusiasm, for his Robertson-skills and Lovett-hardattheballness. However (and maybe someone out there knows him?) would there be a query on his capacity for the constant training and other rigours at AFL level? He seems to be in the 'country footballer' mould (apologies to country footballers present and past!)

I've watched a lot of Tim Smith iver the last few years and have always been a fan.

He's always been a very good mark, however he was very inconsistent and used to be an average shot for goal at best.

His goal kicking improved over one off season however and this year he has been far more consistent, being named ar CHF in the VFL team of the year.

Don't know if we'd be the team to draft him unless they think of moving Hulett to defense, as i think any key forwards we add in the off season will have an ability to play ruck or in worst case scenario and Hogan goes, be a stop gap option till Weideman's ready like Jay Schulz.

Could see him walking into Richmond's 22 however as that 3rd tall forward.

This.

He looks like an ideal third tall, but in I remain to be convinced he suits our structure.

Now watch us not draft him and dominate  2017 for his afl club!

I keep thinking of Tory Dickson when I think of Tim Smith, but I'm completely unaware if he has put in the work on the track and shown the commitment/attitude/work ethic, or if he just turns up on the weekend and gets by on talent.

Same. Not sure he's as good a goal kicker as Dickson. But I think he's more athletic, takes a bigger grab and is more of a bull with his tackling.

If he was 21 all the clubs would want him, at 25 I'm not so sure.

He battled away pretty well in the grand final given he got a nasty corky.

I'd be shocked if he isn't drafted, i'd absolutely be looking at him, especially with at least one of Dawes and Pedo leaving.

we've had a very close look so we're in a very good position to make a call.

Some people are easily shocked.

CHF in the vic team of the year, in a VFL side that made the GF and has shown some very clear AFL level attributes, if it were my call i'd absolutely be taking him, would love to see the rationale of a person who didn't want him on their list, even as a rookie

I get the logic and the love, but was just amused by "shocked". I wouldn't be at all shocked, players like this, especially at his age, are overlooked *all the time*. Personally I'll be surprised if he is drafted - as a general pattern, clubs won't use a place on their list on undersized, most goal output forwards.

Like a bulldozer, he has a low centre of gravity, hurts opponents, & can launch in the air as well.  I don't know what his vision & hands are like inside, but I'd like Us to find out.

Agree 100% when you look at that 25-29yo bracket it's very thin.  Hibberd does add one to it.

Yep, our talent up in that age bracket gets thin after de-listings, and those getting closer to it.  We do need to bring in some more maturity, but ones who can play, & lead.

They don't have to be stars, but they must be high quality & tough.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger.
