Will almost be a surreal experience seeing Melbourne not dipping heavily into the draft pool.

Don't know what it feels like to get a 4 time premiership, all Australian, gun of the competition type saviour.

i'm used to relying on skinny 18 year olds.

No, we have to make three list changes.

The exact words from the afl stipulations for the draft are:

'each Club shall exercise a minimum of 3 Draft selections'

Does this mean we could just draft 1 new player then upgrade two rookie selctions? Or even draft no one new and upgrade 3 rookies?

Slot Rockliff in there as well and we'd need to change the rules to have a starting 25.

We will have no currency to get Rockliff (if it's even a possibility) after the Lewis deal unless we dare use next years draft currency.

We still have this years second round pick, and maybe a player or two involved. Will mean Hibbard needs to be done with a next year pick.

Which I think is the reason the Hibberd deal hasn't happened yet... Essendon now worried that our 2nd round pick next year could be devalued if we make finals

Cool isn't it?

The better Hibberd plays for us, the more likely it is to devalue to pick Essendon get in exchange for him.

Unfair. He ran off because we had the ball. The next possession went to him because he was playing football and not getting involved with some faux tough jumper pull game.

Young warroir, please make it true. I have been reading for a long time,  regrettably I didn't have the confidence in my IT ability to post until recently. Some of you probably have fathers like me that need help finding the mouse button and technical stuff like that. I will say though that even though a lot of you say things that don't make much sense I don't care. I love all of it and I know all of your hearts beat true. You keep posting, I will keep reading (and post occasionally) and we will all see the Demons prosper.

Yep i don't like that poster that doesn't make much sense either....

Have fun burning your membership.

Have fun watching the slowest team in the comp, along with Richmond and North Melbourne.

We will open up the gap between us and Bulldogs/Saints/GWS.....I can assure you.

The dogs mids aren't that fast, their ball movement is very fast (and not really legal if you ask me) but their leg speed isn't. GWS and Saints are quicker but can be beaten by fast ball movement. Would much prefer good ball users and decision makers than fast players.

Actually not really that slow all over the ground, but we are one line breaker short off the wing. But kick the ball 50 metres and get someone to sprint 50 metres, see which goes quicker.

That being said, if we can win the midfield battle and lock the ball forward of centre it's less of an issue.

I'd much rather a bloke with a great footy IQ who can hit a target 50 metres away than players who run blindly and make poor decisions or turn the ball over.

What's that, a bad word about Richmond? Took you long enough lol.

The Bulldogs have well and truly taken your 2nd (read 1st) team fancy then.

Oliver, slow leg speed but quick decision maker and quick hands. Gets the ball moving quickly.

Our speed and outside mid stocks aren't bad:

Lumumba, Hunt, Harmes, Kennedy, Vince, Salem, Melksham, Petracca, Garlett, Kent

we have a few guys who can run and carry and be damaging on the outside.

the thing to remember is that fast runners doesn't always mean fast ball movement, the Dockers have Pierce and Hill but still seem to move the ball quite slowly.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
