Hey, over here in Adelaide, there are two clubs that drive you absolutely sick. Port and the Crows. No TV coverage for MFC, no articles in the daily paper, no radio commentary, no nuffin. Loathsome behaviours all of the time from supporters with at least 20 commentators counting every breath of every player in these two sides. They even think that they got a bargain with Watts, Toumpas and the profits from the Lever deal. Yep, hate Essendrug and Carlscum, but these two in proximity are unbearable.

I absolutely get that. From my occasional forays into Church City, a short 5 minutes of listening to 5AA is enough to harden one against those two clubs forever.

(well .... for a while anyway.)

I can't imagine what a steady diet would do to one's mind.

Something like this, probably:

screamAPa.jpg?w=300&q=55&auto=format&usm

However, we must look at the big picture. Provincial difficulties must be risen above and the long range, objective view be held.

And that is, clearly, that a certain few clubs must never be given an inch. Must always be held in contempt if not with outright hatred.

In no particular order:

Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood, for reasons that are too obvious to need writing here.

Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney also deserve no quarter.

Adelaide, Port Adelaide, as already discussed.

Richmond, for being Richmond.

St K, Footscray. For being contemptible losers, and Footscray even more for winning in '16 and breaking that stereotype. F***** losers.

North, same reason, but without the winning part.

GCS and GWS. "Vlad's folly". One for not winning enough and one for winning too much.

Freo for being anonymous and taking up space.

WCE and Brisbane, for beating us in the past. The f****** b******s.

That's all I can think of for now.

But no true supporter of Aussie Rules can go too far wrong following the above chart of who to hate.

How much hate, you ask, and how to apportion? As a rule of thumb, or when in doubt, remember this: too much is not enough.

Posited most appreciably, with sound foundations of logic, perception and that deeper understanding of the things of this world. It bound my thoughts with clearer meaning and for that, I thank you. Kind regards...

The idea that so soon after such a massive scandal that brought the sport into disrepute, threatened to ruin 3 seasons, was found by the head WORLD anti- doping body to have been against the rules of world sport, that [censored] off, frustrated and bored the fans to no end and that may still have a large amount to play out with regard to the health of the players involved and their families long term, (let alone the impact on the integrity of the competition during the period doping players were aloud to play)... the idea that so soon after all of this the AFL would even consider letting Hird have ANY official role within the sport is beyond astounding, the fact it is a coaching position is just beyond stupid! What an immoral farce this league has become.

should never be able to coach again , or involved in afl.

he has done enough damage and been found guilty

Somewhat ironic the Chemist is now in Windyville eh ?

Hard to get a really decent coffee over there... perhaps Jimmy can 'fix' the brew !!

Have said from day 1 that the AFL is inept, especially with drugs in their sport.

It seems they like to continually prove me right!

Ahh....., i love that the "art" page thread is not dead and buried after all.

Footnote, how is that McClure saw fit to "hear ye" us plebs that the AFL had to be contacted and give their imprimatur to it all,,,,,,,,

I hope he brings his chocolates over here. He can sell them at the Fremantle markets. Chuck some hash in them and the locals with go crazy.

Hiya, Wilbur. Agreed about the bottle fermentation in Cooper's Beer. However, it is three times better if you make it yourself. Cooper's make a ripper series of home brew mixes; have not had a bad one yet. Some are exceptional, such as their APA, Stout and Real Ale.

However, I am probably talking to the converted so forgive me.

The brews are fine to take to the 'footy' over here - meaning a few bottles slipped into the nearest Foxtel lounge when the Demons are playing on their telecast through Channel 504. Other than that, my home was Melbourne and I must admit, I miss it even after 18 years in Adelaide.

Hell of a drive to get to the footy at the MCG, though...

the obvious next step is Hird.

Probably Essendon with AFL approval !

I assume that is rather tongue-in-cheek.

If not, I would expect Peter Jackson to shut the idea down quick smart.

I could not support a team with him at the club.   To me he is no better than the drug dealer on the street selling gear to young people.  They do it for money.  Hird selfishly used players, who were entrusted to his care, as guinea pigs for his own egotistical purposes.  Unforgivable in my book.

Anyway, he doesn't have much to offer - is in the 'great player/average coach' category.

No thanks!  Keep him away from my club.

Freo need an injection of talent...

honestly, Hird should never be allowed any form of accreditation ever again, until he takes responsibility for what he did.

For what this is worth. I've recently returned from a trip to the Hilltops/Young/Mudgee wine producing areas of NSW.

In Mudgee I stayed at a Motel run by an ex WA dude and we had a conversation about AFL footy. ( AFL footy is not big in Mudgee.)

It turned out he is the brother of a certain West Coast Eagle backman who played in the Worsfold era. One of the things he said was that the Whoosh was also called the Chemist. Yes, that was/is his profession.

He then said West Coast players were using drugs in that era. Not all of them, just most of them. He claims it was a well-known 'fact'.

He mentioned the usual suspects, the dead one and those still alive, including a surfing type who played a few games for the Demons in 1996.

He also said drugs were and are rife in the AFL. He said Essendon's biggest problem was they were caught.

For what it's worth...

But I am sure that the AFL integrity commission ??? had a good thorough look at it ????

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
