I agree to an extent. But nothing less than the 8 next year is acceptable though. I think we can do it. It'll be interesting to see the new things Goodwin brings to the table in 2017.

It's the reason I was hoping for a Swans win today. Even given the advantages Sydney have been gifted, seeing Toby the duck McLean, his rugby passing team mates, and slope head Stringer waltzing around with a premiership medallion around their necks kills any joy I should be feeling for them.

 

Of course, winners are grinners.

If this result shows us anything it's that if every player buys into the coach & club anything is possible, forget if your not one of the big clubs, if you've only got 40,000 members & you haven't won a flag for 60+ years. If you want it bad enough you'll get there. I am so jealous of the Dogs (part of me wanted the swans to win) because they are like us a small club that's known tough times. If it makes me want to win one that badly I can only hope the Melbourne players feel that X 100. Over to you now Goodwin & players.

I don't care being a Dees fan, but I thought the umpiring was the worst in GF living memory.

Get your hand off it Tyson. Your talking about a club that had their captain leave for GWS, a Brownlow Medalist looking for greener pastures in Ess. They then get a coach that put belief in his boys to turn this club around when it seemed people were leaving. Amazing effort from a battling club, and you say this dribble.

Against a side that the AFL look after, one year they get Tippett, the next year Franklin, had COLA for god knows how long. And the Dogs beat this side with a hell of a lot of injuries throughout the year. Simply amazing, play with heart for their club and coach.

My sentiments exactly. The thing about Melbourne is that we've won 12, so I doubt you'd see the same universal support like you saw for the Bulldogs.

To me it's clear what we have to work on over summer; our flick passes and our ducking.

Taking nothing away from the dogs,  they have heart, but they also skirt the edge of cheating. Especially that little ducker McLean. 

Also I hope you guys who doubt the need for a big bodied forward take note of Boyd's performance today. U can't put a price on an impact player that can stand up and take a grab when needed!

Don't disagree with your thrust, but Cooney was moved on by the Dogs and Griffen was a soft and reluctant Captain. They got Boyd, a 19 year old number one pick a year earlier, for Griffen. Those players leaving helped the Dogs and don't need to be used in your argument.

This sums up how I feel. It wasn't in the spirit of the game. Look at how in 2008, the rushed behinds completely stemmed the momentum of the Cats. I know i'm probably clouded with salty emotion but this just feels like the beginning of another era where a coach has learned to exploit the rules and will probably win more premierships while other club struggle to adapt to a new type of game style. Today it felt like Sydney winning was more of a fairytale to prevent an nevitable new premiership dog dynasty getting 'an early one' with new rules exploits.

The only question mark was awarding bulldogs a bye after last round. Takes away all reward for high ladder positions. Rewards the nothing to lose attitude.

Were also soft targets for Ward and Griffin but got bold and smart with Boyd.

They made their own luck and have shown other clubs what's possible buy rejecting helplessness,

- We were flat.

- We didn't come out to play.

- We're too young.

- We were cooked.

FFS, I've heard it all now. Every club had a bye. You do realise that if they lost against WCE they were out? The sides that finished higher had the double chance.
