Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne now hold the honours of the longest premiership drought. (52 years)

Don't disagree with your thrust, but Cooney was moved on by the Dogs and Griffen was a soft and reluctant Captain. They got Boyd, a 19 year old number one pick a year earlier, for Griffen. Those players leaving helped the Dogs and don't need to be used in your argument.

The Dogs also gave up pick 6 in the deal, so before today, it was a shocker of a deal for them. The fact that Griffin was a reluctant captain doesn't mean that he wouldn't have contributed as a player under Beveridge.

A pick that ultimately went to Marchbank, who is walking out on them this year (for a much lesser pick, no doubt).

Griffin will leave that club without winning a premiership. I'd say the Dogs will end up ahead if Boyd truly has blossomed after today.

So proud of the Doggies. Such a proud club that has no excuses and continully bust there guts. Well done doggies.

Yes such a proud club that in 1989 nearly went into a merger with Fitzroy. Nick Columb the president at the time said to their supporters please come to the last game in 1989 otherwise the club is cactus. Guess what ? Hardly anyone turned up.

Columb then went to Fitzroy and suggested a merger and Fitzroy said ok we'll call the club the Fitzroy Bulldogs.

The [censored] hit the fan and and all of sudden people in the western suburbs started to wake up. Protests started and all of a sudden Fitzroy looked like predators trying to take over this poor little working class club. Like the attempted merger between Melbourne and Hawthorn the club that asked to merge became the the good guys and Melbourne the club they wanted to merge with became the bad guys.

The history of Fitzroy and the Footscray couldn't be more different. Fitzroy had eight premierships and Footscray had one. Also Fitzroy had 9 Brownlow medals and even with that sort of history the Bulldogs looked like a more worthy club with a more proud history.

Yes the doggies are such a proud club.

Everything about today sucks....big time.

Why?

it's a wake up call to clubs like the MFC get their sh!t together and stop talking about "Next Year"

Do it now.

It only takes a 5 year plan if one has no idea

And it certainly sends a message to clubs like Richmond, Collingwood, North Melbourne, etc. that there's really no excuse for endlessly treading water in the 6-12 range of the ladder for 5 years. You either compete or you fail and start again.

It's pretty obvious that we need to ride every tackle like it's someone swatting us with a feather duster. Once the tackle has hit it's hardest, with your free arms and hands, get a tap/handball off.  If anything, the Dogs have given a blueprint that a tackle against you, means nothing. Raise your hands and ride it out.

How well does Bontempelli keep his arms free?

I can't believe how he got ball to boot in the middle of a tackle late in the 3rd (or early in the 4th?)

He's a freak, considering how huge he is there's so much agility and elegance to his movements.

Pretty well? I had an idea to recruit Bliclavs from the Cats as I feel he's the prototype midfielder like Kennedy and Bontempelli but he's re-signed now. Who do we we bring in as a 195+ cm big bodied aggressive midfielder or player to compliment our small sized mids?

Rumours abound the Michael Barlow may sign?

Dunno if he's the answer though

Oliver can become that clearance machine for us if he bulks up a bit more

I don't think Blicavs isn't in the same class as them, he's better suited to backup ruck and play as a utility, which still could be handy to us however

I don't care being a Dees fan, but I thought the umpiring was the worst in GF living memory.

The Dogs were given an armchair ride and with the Hawks, have been for years.

Really?

I watched the game with a Sydney supporter and even she agreed that the umpiring was fine. Did not influence the game whatsoever.

For years I have been sorry for the Doggies. I always hoped that GWS wouldn't win a flag before the Doggies who have been in the queue for so long. Now I am as jealous hell! I firmly believe we have a better list individually but we cannot at the moment match their teamwork and overwhelming desire to win.  Congratulations to them. They truly deserved it. Their success though must give us hope for the future.

i just dont see this great list that we are supposed to have. i definitely cant see the list as being better than the dogs. we have some potential for sure but it tails off pretty quickly and the few that are getting talked up really havent done much yet

Our players need to want to be great & see with hard work anything is possible...doggies not the best team all year but best team last 4 weeks! So happy for their supporters who like us haven't seen a flag but stuck by them! I'm a 20 yr member & faith restored that smaller clubs can achieve the ultimate!

It's a combination of good picks,father/sons who care about the club and stalwarts who were respected and given a job.

We haven't got many old stalwarts but we do have enough talent to make it.

Doggies were not the best team all year but the best over the last 4 weeks.. Comp was fairly even with only percentage separating spots in top 4 vs Botton 4 .. Shows every team that it's possible when you have a United club & consider only 2 yrs ago they were in a mess somewhat! As Roos said the players need to want to be great pure & simple! If this doesn't inspire the players to do something special & see a deserved Jones holding up the cup!

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
