Scully looked like he was not prepared to take the game on. Quick hands and set up kicks but in the end failed to deliver the knock out blow. Steve J let them down last week. Heath Shaw bad for team morale down back as evidenced in second quarter abusing teammates.

And Jeremy Cameron was showed up big-time. Just delightful seeing teams that expect everything on a silver platter getting a rude awakening by a blue collar team (like I hope we develop into).

Steve Johnson must feel like crap right now too. His own team and his former team knocked out in the same week, just wonderful stuff. Especially when you consider the difference he probably would've made tonight, almost certainly 1 or 2 goals the difference.

Doggies supporters have done it much harder than us in the last fifty years. We know what their pain feels like and also what they would be feeling now.

Wouldn't think very many MFC supporters would be unhappy with the result.

The AFL's first round pick test tube babies can suffer some pain before their multiple flags.

I think Scully adds greatly to many MFC supporters dislike of them.

Go Doggies!!!

The last two minutes are up on the AFL website.

To feed the whole "the Dogs get the umpires' help" stuff, have a look at about 18 seconds in. Scully takes the mark in the middle and Johannisen come running past, well within the "protected zone" IMO. In another game I reckon that gets paid a 50.

I'm also not sure how I feel about the high tackle free McLean got with about a minute left.

Not complaining about the decisions of course (Scully kicking the winning goal would have made me projectile vomit all over the TV) but slightly controversial nonetheless.

after just dropping at least 5 places in the draft, they'd better win the big one

Just look at their recent drafting; they haven't needed early picks to end up where they are now. Have absolutely killed it with their late picks in the draft. Jayden Hunt-esque diamonds in the rough.

I hate the way GWS have 'Thugged' their way. It reeks of old school Sheedy thuggery and concomitant atrocities and I'm proud that the Dogs withstood it and won. Get Thugged, Mumford and co, you are a bunch of troglodyte morons.

Agree, GWS ferocious at the man, Doggies more so the ball.

That is what footy is all about, playing for your mates until you're rooted.

So great to see all the former greats of the dogs so pumped.

2 years time.... Hopefully it'll be us. I honestly don't know how I will be able to watch us when we get to a prelim/gf

I'm in Japan right now so am not watching the game on the telly - either there was a heart wrenching interview with Bob, ir you've just shown yourself to be an incredibly compassionate man Steve. A credit to you.

please take note however that you're in a distinct minority in DL and you'll get found out at some point...

I don't think I'm alone with my feelings in this circumstance.

Bob is just a wonderful football person.

First team to make the GF from outside the top 4.

Also the first Victorian team to win two interstate finals in the same year.

Also the first year neither team who won the QF and had the week off made the GF. Whether that's a coincidence with the Round 23 bye) or not will be debated, I'm sure.

Crows won from 5th in 98. We were the only side to beat them in September

Ha read on twitter Spotless ran out of beer at 1/2 time. Obviously not used to catering for big crowds.

well what a final. It was fantastic. 2 years ago the club was at an all time low. Captain going new coach and Bevo has just come in and created a great team environment. Geez how good is the Bont to watch. Took a good mark in the final quarter and also kicked a very important goal. Those dogs just never gave up.

Im happy for there fans who havent seen them play a gf for sooo long. Happy for players like Smith who has had 3 or 4 knee recos and we saw the interview, lost his best mate last monday. But shattered for Murphy. Just the heart and soul and misses a chance to play in the big one.

Any go dogs for next week. I will be barracking hard for you, and im sure it will set up a good atmosphere at the VFL grand final tomorrow. Dogs fans will be on a high.

Wonder if Heath Shaw has stopped screaming at his teammates yet? Also Jeremy Cameron were you out there?

Gee, Boyd offers absolutely nothing. When Roughead went out of the game I thought for sure GWS would capitalize with big Mummy in the ruck. Whenever Boyd gets the ball he would just hospital hand pass in the air without even thinking. Over 1 million dollars a season for a plodder. Imagine what that team could do with that salary cap space if they hadn't spent that much on such a nothing player,

Isn't it terrible. Still, they'll have five first round draft picks who won't be scarred by tonight.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
