He's contracted to Adelaide so that makes our bargaining position rather difficult.

Roos has proven over the journey that he doesn't value draft picks as highly as most fans appear to.. he trades away medium to high level picks for fringe players at other clubs.

I'd expect us to land Lyons and their 3rd rounder for a 2nd rounder (guessing) and a few angry posters on this board.

The motto on here as been "In Roos We Trust"... until he trades for someone we know little about or we don't rate, then we crack the shits and the FD don't know what they're doing! ;)

When have they ever?

I'd be happy to give Adelaide our second round pick for this guy and Vince.

Sounds like cracking deal for us - Instant midfield in exchange for an early 20's pick

Might have to throw in a spud as a sweetener

I'm thinking maybe Tapscott would like to go home? Makes it a pretty decent deal for them. Might have to upgrade a later pick for us as well to even it out.

Sylvia compo (Pick 24) to Freo in exchange for Michie & their 2nd round Pick (37).

Tapscott, Pick 37 & our 3rd Round Pick (40) to Adelaide in exchange for Vince, Lyons & their 3rd Round Pick (46)

Melbourne: Gain Michie, Vince, Lyons, Pick 46

Loose Tapscott, Pick 24 & 40

Fremantle: Gain Pick 24

Loose Michie & Pick 37

Adelaide: Gain Tapscott, Pick 37 & 40

Loose Vince, Lyons & Pick 46

Don't think anyone really looses out of that. Potentially Adelaide, but hard to call it a loss.

I think we should get:

Vince and Lyons with pick 21(Sylvia compo)

Trade pick 2 for Shiel (or keep it for Nathan Freeman) Zak Jones with pick 20

Dayle Garlett with our third Round Pick

Chris Cain with our Fourth Round Pick

Viv Michie in the preseason draft!

Daniel Cross Delisted Free Agent

Possibly even Maverick Weller as Delisted free agent too

Suddenly we have a midfield!!

I would be pretty happy with that!!

Only problem with trying to get Michie in the PSD is you've got no guarantee GWS wont take him first. That's why a trade would be best.

Convincing Bugg to enter the PSD is the way to go!

Adelaide want our second round pick, they need it to trump Port for Polec. To me we trade our second round and fourth round pick to the crows for Vince and Lyons, offer third round pick for Michie.

As long as we can get Lyons, Vince, Michie, Cain, Jones and Shiel or Freeman I will be happy!

Adelaide really want Polec. Screw them.

Offer the pick they really need (2nd round), for Vince and Lyons. Question to them is whether Vince and Lyons is more important to them than Polec, I suspect they're not.

It boggles the mind when I see people on here suggesting we trade a second round pick for either Lyons or Michie; these guys are fringe players that have had limited opportunities because of form and injury, yet we think we can transform them in to good players who will play every game and never get injured.

I can confirm that Melbourne have offered him a deal.

Given that I presume your username refers to the East Bentleigh postcode and Lyons is apparently an East Bentleigh boy, I'm going to back you on that one. :D

Sorry RM, Adelaide would not exactly be licking their lips over Tapscott. That is not a win. They get a list clogger.

Sylvia compo (Pick 24) to Freo in exchange for Michie & their 2nd round Pick (37).

Yeah, that looks pretty good for the MFC and Freo. Adelaide are being shafted in that one. I can't see it happening myself. If it does, great!

Exactly, Robbie. These are the sorts of players Roos would have picked up for picks in the 40s back in Sydney. We simply need to offer these guys lucrative deals and the promise of consistent AFL footy. I guess the difference is a lot of these guys we're going after are contracted, so we have a bit of convincing to do to get their current clubs on board with the deal.

Michie, pick 40 I agree. But Vince and Lyons are going to take value. Roos did some cheap trades but he also gave up a bit. Pick 28 for Marty Mattner, pick 28 for Mumford, pick 15 for Jolly.

Plus at Sydney he was often trading in strong drafts for mature guys who no one was really sold on. Vince and Lyons in some ways have more value than that and their contracts mean we have to pay up. Giving away both pick 20 and the Sylvia pick would be a shame but if it got the deal done then it might be required.

We can't trade pick 20, 40 and the Sylvia pick for just players though. We need to get some draft picks back and preferably in the top 40 to get some more youth in.

Robbie F...be prepared to be boggled then.. Sydney had far more clout than we have come the trade table.. We are going to have to pay overs to some degree. Unpalatable yes....a reality...also YES.

I have this unshakable belief in the Dees....hang on, am I drunk?

Silly season is back and so am I.

Ok here is what is going to happen if all players agree to come to the Dees.

Viv Michie to Melbourne for pick 54 (4th round pick)

Bernie Vince and Jarryd Lyons to Melbourne for Sylvia Comp pick (20s) or it will be our 2nd rounder one or the other plus our 3rd round pick 34.

Daniel cross Delisted free agent .

Pick 2 we will keep and pick 20 or compo pick. No Suitable trade will get done. So we will have 2 picks in top 30.

You heard it here first.

This works but you will need to switch pick 34 for Michie and pick 54 to Adelaide.

Also add Miles in the PSD.

I have heard the draft falls away after about pick 40. So don't know what the value of a pick in the 40's or 50s is

I could live with this if it actually happened.

Two experienced mids, two who have been in the system for a couple of seasons and two top end kids would be a fair return.

GAMEDAY: Match SIM vs North Melbourne

After an agonizingly long off-season the 2025 AFL Premiership Season is almost upon us and the Demons have their first practice hit out against the Kangaroos in a match simulation out at Arden Street. The Demons will take on the Kangaroos in match simulation play, starting from 10am AEDT and broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo. The play start time was brought forward from the initial 11am bounce, due to the high temperatures forecast.  The match sim will consist of four 25-minute qu

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
