Bombers Request Friday Night Game in Round 1 2017 for the Suspended Bombers to make their comeback in front of a Blockbuster. They have suggested Melbourne as their Opponents.

And of course Gill will accede to anything to help this poor, misunderstood victim of a club back on their feet.

Bloody cheek of them.

We should embrace this game and since it's at the MCG, it should be a home game for the Demons so that we can benefit from the massive crowd on hand to welcome the country's major contributor to the cause of drug cheating.

In fact, while they're at it, the AFL could provide free entry to the families of all convicted drug dealers and invite the head of Russia's Olympic Committee to toss the coin at the start of the game. Australia Post could launch a new stamp with Stephen Dank's picture on it.

Half time entertainment: Neil Young to sing, "The Needle and the Damage Done".

Bring it on AFL - the concept would be in line with everything you've done in the past decade for the integrity of the game.

“We always seem to play an away game, or a game at Etihad Stadium in a secondary timeslot. Said Campbell.

Maybe because shitihad is your home ground you Muppet!

Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs should be the opening Friday night game

Essendon can play at 8 pm on Sunday night in Darwin.  Fark the drug cheats.

Out of interest, when was the last time we played Essendon as the home team?

A guy at work said 2010 iirc, but I think it has been twice in the last ten years, but we usually play them as the away team at the G.

Of course they want Melbourne - they beat us this year.

And I believe they beat us only because of all the 'March to the G' hype, the fanfare etc and they played out of their skins on emotion.  Unsettling for our young team.  They want to repeat the fanfare and the hype to build up their emotion again.  But we will be ready this time.

Sorry, but I would not go to that game - couldn't take another dose of Ess smug arrogance, pretending their players are innocent making them out to be heroes.  Nauseating!!

Edit: Of Course having Goodwin, Melksham and Hibberd at Melbourne for their first game would help them build their hysteria to an even greater frenzy.

It's crazy, all to avoid wearing a clash jumper.

The fact that we aren't wearing a red clash jumper today is a disgrace.

Since when does the bottom team get Friday nights!  No other 'low' clubs get prime FTA time slots.  They get ANZAC Day, The Indigenous Game vs Richmond.  They do not deserve another blockbuster let alone another prime FTA time slot.

STKilda, Bulldogs, North and Us have had to earn them the hard way - on our merits by winning games, not having them handed to us on a silver platter.  Will be interesting to see how many Friday night games we get!!!!

I bet they did not have the courtesy of asking our club to participate before making their request to the AFL.

Why is everyone complaining? I'd love this match to go down

Because any decent sporting peak body would not applaud the return of players banned for drug cheating, but give it a low profile.  What would it say to WADA and the world to be seen to be celebrating their return as if the club was a poor hard done by victim?  I can only hope that other clean sporting bodies in Australia lean on the AFL to stop this madness.   If you love this match to go down because it may put $ in the hands of the MFC or whatever, think again. There are more important considerations.

Darwin's our gig. Let them play Sunday night in Wellington (NZ)!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
