POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 21

Great last Quarter Demons.

They threw it all at us and the young kids stood tall.

Yes it was ugly and we missed some shots but we kept Port to 14 scoring shots

next week i hope Garlett spends some time in the midfield. Let him run...

Great win. Big M and fantastic backline lead by Tmac, Nev the difference.

Jeffy should be running and breaking lines, but refuses to take the game on. Even had the chance against one of their talls when the game was still on in the last but refused. Some nice goals in junk time and a few decent passages towards the last 10 minutes but otherwise he just didn't impact for mine. When he lost that marking contest he just turned to the ump and whinged as his opponent ran off up the field. He was gifted his ideal goal in the first, again when the game was 'on' but even fluffed that. Doesn't do enough of the team things. It's just all about Jeffy and you can't afford that type of player in a clutch game (eg., Final/GF or clutch final round match etc).

He is handy when all's going well but you can't rely on him to do the team things or take the game on when the game is 'on'. He just doesn't.

Tipping Jesse to come out and have a good one against the Blues, with 5 sausages and several more assists.

Good week for Jesse to come out

Pretty much a perfect day.

Norf get rolled, 'Aints have their season finished and we get a solid win in Adelaide.

sure the game wasn't perfect, but anyone whinging should pull their heads out of their backsides and enjoy another good win.

Bugg kicked that one in the third.

Yep you are right

A Game of two haves.. and even the second half had two halves and yet still, we tore them a new one

Not just an ugly win, an ugly thrashing.

Yeah... I'll take it

You almost expect it these days.  We kick 8 in a row, then they finally get one and you get there 'here we go...' and 'terrible football' stuff from the usual posters.  It's as if they expect us to kick 20 and the other team can't hit the scoreboard at all.

We won, in Adelaide, by almost 7 goals.  Some are never happy.

No, I didn't mind them getting one, or three for that matter, but when they got 4 unanswered goals, with us missing 4 sitters, coming up to 3/4 time ... yeah, maybe a few of us did think we looked like throwing it away. If they'd had a bench, who knows?

That we managed to hang on while still playing lousy was good. That was winning the way Hawthorn win. Would be good to one day take the chance to really smash a side near us on the ladder, though.

 Good, mature win.

We did the business early, were challenged and then won it going away with it. Just did the hard work and that was enough to win.

Another strong step forward, albeit not as thrilling as last week.

Great win. Terrible game.

Spot on, Chook. It feels more like a draw. But winning ugly by 40 points is a huge effort against Port in Adelaide.

Our midfield looked poorly skilled, and our forward line clumsy. Our defence was fantastic. And for the first time in years we look quick. Hunt, Frost, and Brayshaw on the run make for good viewing. Oliver is becoming my main man, I just love his vision and poise.

Massive game for us next week.

Bernie was asked about finals and said if we are still a chance then why not. It's good that they don't say we have to keep wining, this team believes and wants to get there.

Im rapt to see Tyson playing really well. Now can people stop talking about Kelly now.

Now i'm streaming mmm Adelaide and hearing all the port fans ringing up and complaining.

The haves and the have nots?

like the old saying on how most people from Adelaide have two wits, half wits and .... ....

Loved this comment by Dermie, if the Dees scrape into the finals, there will be 7 other teams not wanting to play them.

We are a respected club again and I feel proud once again to be a Dees fan.

Someone will have to play bloody well to deny Hunty a rising Star nomination this week.

People in adelaide... Where are we celebrating????

Running must really take it out of you.

Watch the Dees first, then the runner, and you have nuts and Bolt! :)

poor old picket fence,  oscar gets more possessions and marks than clarrie

He'll be ok, Oscar still managed a couple of spectacular wonky kicks, which totally cancels out all of those 23 disposals, 9 marks (2 contested) etc... etc..

Plus, not a single Port player over Aaron Young's 188cm kicked a goal, which would suggest our tall defenders had an ok day. Lobbe was their only tall to get a contested mark.

Anyway, surely we're all friends today - a 40 point away win over a mid-table rival, despite several players being a bit off and the system stalling for about a quarter.

Are we becoming a team that still wins on off days? That would be wild stuff.

Just read some of the gameday thread. Some of the posters on there should be ashamed of themselves.

Oliver's last possession was so clever. If you can watch the replay, it's with about 15 seconds to go.

Thought I'd be more likely to see Biffen wear a suit and tie than see three wins on the trot.

For all those lamenting our 2nd half performance, we outscored them by 3 points (41-38).

40 point win at AO, i'll take that any day.

That makes it 3 in a row, with a good chance to go 4 on the trot. Go Dees.

What's really interesting about that is how badly we kicked for goal. We could have won by more.

Port had injuries as well but bugger it, was a good win from such a young team. 9 players under 50 games and 3 first yr players... great effort

Billy Stretch is an unheralded decision maker and skill executor. The boy runs in straight lines - i love him!

Tom Bugg is so underrated.

He's just a fringer, apparently.

He's kicked 4 goals in 2 weeks and proven to be best 22.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
