Don't give me any positive [censored].   Once again we proved what a spiritless [censored] up club we've become.

I appreciate you are frustrated, as you should be, but you do not hold West Coast to their lowest home differentials in time in forward half and inside 50s without spirit.

Spirit was there. Skill was not, when needed.

I hate blaming umpires, but....

Shannon Hurn could have sunk one into row Z, but as soon as we barely touch one and it trickles over the line it gets pinged. Absolutely ropable.

I know, I know, we should have put the game away, but some of those decisions in the last were dumbfounding.

I don't think he's overated as such. He's just not 100℅ committed. When you aren't days like today show that up. Watts had a classic post contact announcement game ( wtf is it with that )

The commentary on the radio seemed generally positive about his game, wasn't his usual impact but still worked hard.

We lost it going inside 50 and front of goal, kicked ourselves in the ass.

I am extremely disappointed that we didn't win, we bloody well should have, but there is no way that today's performance proved we are a spiritless club.

Short on skills - definitely, but not short on spirit today.

I'm over hearing this stuff - I've heard it for [censored] years.

Once again- for all our "spirit" - and toss in effort potential or any other [censored] thing you like - we are "short on" the four points.

I think you're meant to go from being flogged away v west coast, to losing in a close one, before winning the next one. You don't skip the second step.

Most clubs when developing, have to learn how to win close ones by losing most if not all of them. Once again, you don't just skip this step and win every close game.

This club is full of children. I can't expect them to have the mindset of successful teams yet. As a 32 year old with the mindset that KNOWS how to win games from watching our club in 94,98,00, 06, these players don't have that experience, even from watching. Some players are born in 1996-1998 lol.  This club is like watching a toddler taking steps for the first time. Need to fall over first.

Probably because if we did we would get the mass of posters complaining that winning is the only option and that by seeing improvement in a loss is part of the problem as we would be accepting mediocrity. It isn't worth the fight. Every sane person saw a great effort today from the boys with some obvious issues that will be addressed in time.

It was a fair old choke. 30 more inside 50s, 100 more possessions, ball was in our half for two thirds of the game and we missed a lot of pretty easy shots for a side that's the most accurate kick for goal in the comp.

Fourth time we really could've beaten a top side (North, Hawthorn, Adelaide and now WC) but we weren't mentally tough enough to do it.

But we're a very young side. As WJ said, we'll be winning these games by 4 or 5 goals next year.

Hogan is not sure what to do. He makes a lead and the ball goes to another pocket. If he is around a contest in the forward line he doesnt engage the fight on the ground for it. In fact unless he is in the mood he wont get too close to the contest. It looks like he is saying "Im over here"!
Unless he has a sore back he has to get down and dirty. Watts did it, Jesse has to do it.

I would love to see Hurns 2-3 to the boundary compared to the frees paid. I literally couldn't believe he got away with them in the context of what's been paid this season. I hope the club at least asks the question.

I don't care what anyone says, Tom McDonald  for all his good points is the dumbest and brainless footballer on our list.  His turnovers when not under pressure cost us games so often.  I'm over him, he needs some good old fashioned tough love from the coaching staff.

The umpires are just pathetic and almost corrupt at that ground, something needs to be said, however my anger is at McDonald and his brain fades....we cannot rely on him if we ever make finals FFS!!!!!

Although deflated - shows that we have the potential to be a dominant force in the future.

Watts had to be moved into the midfield in the last quarter for that link up handball and utilise his disposal, would have won us the game.
Not sure if hogan played today

3 reasons why we lost....

1 Missed too many shots

2 Macdonald cant hit a target, which resulted in turnovers & goal! How this guy thinks he should get a larger contract when your kicking results in turnovers is beyond me!

3 Umpires disgraceful free kicks kept WC in the game....I counted 3 goals as a result!

The only thing stopping him was a few inches with hus shots on goal missing. Dry weather probably would've kicked 3.

I'll tell you why I can't find positives...

Because it was typical Melbourne. We need a poor game against St Kilda to spur us into action. I said last week it wouldn't surprise me if we got to within 3-4 goals this week as it would be bloody typical of our efforts after poor games. We have to be able to stop momentum in games and make the difference in the moment and we couldn't do it last week. It shouldn't take a week of being ripped by coaching staff to motive the playing group. You could tell by the 4 changes that the coaches were very dissapointed with the Saints game. Only a win this week would have made the difference (like it did against Geelong last year).

The smother in the last was as good as it gets. The resulting missed shot was average by Dawes.

watts was huge in the last quarter.

Unbelievable repeat efforts.

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
