I can see why the older generation supporters are very impatient and every right to get angry each year when we dont deliver. Its another year gone and another year older from our last flag.

Why people need to get stuck into them and preach that its not all about winning premierships is absolutely staggering.. 

I see my Hawthorn and Geelong mates experience a flag and watch them literally in tears of joy when the final siren goes. I want to experience that [censored] and what it's like to watch your team you put your hard earn money into hold that cup.

I started supporting in 1998 and closest i have got is 2000 and i cried.. Im now getting very impatient yet i still pull my self up when i sit up and do realize that my Old man and even guys like SWYL are getting extra frustrated and [censored] off each year when we miss out on the 8.. again!

If we do not win a flag in the next 15 years i will stop following AFL in general.

Geelong's forward line in their zenith (2007 - 2011) wasn't that much to write home about.

Both good points. The other point is that Mitchell, Hodge & Sewell are unbelievably good at bringing teammates around them into the game, and at converting contested ball into uncontested ball.

We have no one remotely like that yet.

Well he hangs around  the club a lot and by his own admission embraces mediocrity and defeatism.  A reflection of how the  players perform actually. Time to introduce chicken feet and knobs of garlic to the club.

I was gutted on Sunday especially after the start we made and having weathered a heavy storm with the run from midway through the second to late in the 3rd.  I thought we are in this but sure the Hogan free kick and 2 mins later we are 3 goals down.

Not sure who said it on here but surely at some stage in the game these players start getting tired of losing to the Saints and at Etihad and the leaders just carry the team.  Viney tried to do it, Vince didn't look right, Gawny was beaten but he was still trying to impose himself.  We lack plenty of leaders across the ground.

The boys would want to turn up this week, Meth Coast have copped it this week in Perth for their poor performance on Sunday and they have pretty much been written off as causing any problems in September.

The Ox is just like the rest of us passionate and every time we think we have turned the corner this club continues to kick you in the guts.  Most of us remember the false dawns of the past and those scars run deep.

He's also a media performer, who, on commercial radio is compelled to justify his existence as a broadcaster and achieve respectable ratings to ensure advertising revenue.  But you are correct, his comments which he makes on radio are imbued with some real Demon passion.

The references in other posts on this topic, regarding an apparent lack of leadership, when things get tough, are so true.  We are still paying for a legacy which believed high draft picks, at the expense of leadership and internal development would fix all our problems.  Champion teams like Hawthorn never had to bottom out, developed from within and have been excellent at talent identification, to augment their core group of champs.

I still think we are much further advanced since the recent dark days of the past, but we now need to take that extra step.

The Club has to expect a whack when you consider losses to Essendon, Carlton and St Kilda x 2 - not good enough. We really should be sitting on 10 wins now.

If I wanted to be cruel dd I would say you have no stamina.

However I would be saying that after the experience of seeing two flags in the 60's so I have an idea of the joy.

You are right of course if I don't see a GF win in the next 15 years like you I will give up AFL in fact I will be dead and will have no say in it.

Yes we are impatient but after half a century that tends to happen.

Hang in there for me dd if it is longer than 15 you will know the feeling I had at that point 70 years ago.

You are not alone PSD.

I have actually now given up on beating the Saints at the dome of death. I think like the players I am mentally scared about that place. Our best chance of beating the saints is the next time we play them at the G. Not the same mental thing there.

As for the WA Game a similar result is in store for similar reasons the difference will be the size of the loss. I expect 10+ goals.

I don't hang around the club, and I am not the curse, coz I only arrived in 77 and MFC had already had 13 years without a flag.  I don't accept mediocrity,  I wasn't a fan of the performance last week, nobody was, but it was last week, and I have moved on

I expect us to win a flag, when we are good enough, we haven't been good enough since 1964, yet some posters keep reminding how good the teams have been before the last 7 or 8 years maybe they were but they weren't good enough

Nobody, and  I include the coaching staff, knows when we will be good enough, they are just working towards that goal

Me, I just don't see the point of 15 pages of whinging after a loss, maybe some need the release, maybe they could have a [censored] instead, they might enjoy it more

I prefer the other David's approach, he appears at Club functions, and if he is frustrated with the lavk of progress, which like the rest of us, I am sure he is, he keeps it to himself and doesn't chase a headline

This years AGM I expect a glut of speakers to stand up and air their dissatisfaction, as if, and SWYL to nominate for Chairman, as obviously he thinks he can do a better job

If somebody could let me know why teams containing Flower, Farmer, Viney, Davey, the Ox et al all failed to win a flag, I would be interested to know, to compare the reasons with the present team

This may sound overly simplistic Saty but all the above played in sides that did not have enough players like themselves.

Like now we have 6-7 players who would get a game in the top teams plus a bunch of kids and then a bunch of ordinary players.

The list has improved but it is still a way of being a  top eight team.
