Roos' goodbye game

Uncharted territory for the MFC with a coach going out on his own terms.

I wonder how the rank-n-file will approach this.  How did Sydney handle it?  Will we give him a standing ovation at 3/4 time?  Will the trumpeter blow a few sombre notes?  Will the Roos-Views-Interview bloke give him a few thought-provoking questions, interrupted by tears, on the PA system?  Will others expect astray change from the 4.5m?  Will we act according to the scoreboard and W-L column?  Will Walls and Demetriou chair him off?

Will it be our last home game v Hawthorn?  Our last G game v Carlton?  Our last game v Geelong?

Our last G game v Carlton. That's my tip, with a smaller sendoff against the cats, unless of course, we sneak a win.

Will we give him a standing ovation at 3/4 time? Dunno, but I would like to give the ovation to whoever in the afl inner sanctum, convinced him to take over. It may well have saved us from extinction. And make no mistake, it was AFL inspired.

Best mate and I going down to skilled together to watch Dee's in last round.. Been meaning to go for years, he's a Cat's man..

He says to me, "You blokes will probably beat us again as it's Roo's last game"

I simply replied. "That's not confirmed yet"

"Goodwins confirmed for next year" he replies

"I'm well aware of that"

"You blokes won't play finals"

"Also not confirmed"

As a Demon's supporter all this stability doesn't sit well with me.

I say sack him with one game to go with Brett Alison as the stand in for the last game.  Purely just to cause confusion

I reckon a bloke still at the club did just this in the last 5 years... Father of a future captain.

2016 Semi Final vs Adelaide at Adelaide Oval will be Roos last game as coach... after we rolled the Doggies by 31 points in the Elimination Final

We go down by 7 points in a brave and brilliant performance, and its clear the next powerhouse club of the AFL has arrived.

Note that I do not agree with the unofficial chorus of the song in regard to Roosy. But since we're all posting farewell music here's one that Roosys mullet would surely have appreciated in the old days. Potentially could be accompanied by dancers lifting their veils of negativity.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
