OMac would be a good chance too in my opinion. Although, watch the AFL give the nomination to Markov. 

He deserved it the week Mills got it with his 29 disposals and 600 meters gained.

unfortunately the AFL had already given in to the pressure to give it to Mills and he would have got it if he had 5 touches.

That is true but Mills deserved it as much if not more. Mills played particularly well that week anyway. Ik we want to see Hunt get rewarded but as long as he keeps improving im sure that a late RS nomination will make little difference.

It is Olympics time, the AFL loves publicity, just see NikNak's 2012 AA over Jacobs.

Hunt has been nothing short of a revelation this year and I would love nothing more than for him to be rocognised with a nomination but let's not get too carried away. Jordan Gysberts got 2 of them...

Gysberts issue wasn't talent, it was his training standards. I doubt a player could get away with poor training standards in today's AFL. Two AFL clubs dumped him for the same reason. Hunt has been a consistent contributor.

The issue was the club culture - a by-product of that was the training standards.

So many top 10 picks up in smoke due the running of the club and subsequent poorly put together/run development programs.

I've said this in other threads but i would love to see what Juice Newton could have done with the current development regime.

On his day he was like superman at Sandringham.

Not that I care that much, but it is strange that a player who might play several very good games but each week has someone playing slightly better, could miss out.

I recall a couple of weeks back that the winner had a reasonable game only, with about 18 possessions and one goal, whereas someone like Hunt can put in many better games than that, yet not get a nod, because that week someone may have played marginally better. It seems in other words that consistency is not rewarded.

There are good reasons for the demise of so many of our young picks. Training and coaching standards are significant, but so is club culture and the importance of playing in a winning team or at least a team that can win more than it loses. You get used to losing and you get used to winning. Attitude and belief are so important. You have to believe as an individual that you are going to be a success and believe that the team can win each week. Players like Hunt (and others of our current crop of young talent) play with a desperation and belief that I have not seen before in a group of young kids.

To see Hunt streaming down the ground taking on all comers as if there is no tomorrow is special.

Rising star nomination for round 20 goes to Josh somebody from the Bulldogs. 

Hunt was unlucky to miss out. His goal to start the afternoon was magic.

I think that's a touch harsh, he played some games that he looked like a decent hit up forward for the future. Like so many others at the club we/he failed to make the most of the talent available. 

Hell even Brad Miller I feel would be a better player if he played under the same development and training regimes in place now. 

Awards aside, this guy has just amazing pace, and takes it on.  Fantastic to watch.  His opening goal on Saturday was just so exciting.

Where can one access the 'yards (metres) gained' stats?

J. Hunt - Average meters gained 346m
