Words fail me.

They have a set amount per week, and because of the Thursday night *ahem* blockbuster there's no Sunday broadcast...

Hopefully remedied next year, farcical that the Bombers would be given night games at all this year.

I'm guessing that the schedule was agreed before the axe fell?

Yeah, the fixture was released before the penalties were handed down, but given what was likely to happen was no surprise and given the Bombers finished 15th last year, it just another example of how the rich get richer.

What does it matter. Real fans go. Fair weather fans all  those who if you can't be bothered to brave the cold and get off their couch!

Sorry couldn't help myself. A preemptive joke to protect against posters who like to post something similar - but not as a joke.

I'm a telstra customer and can stream all our games for free - I actually stream it to my Iphone and then mirror it to the TV through my Apple TV.  It's not perfect clarity but it's certainly watchable.

And it's unmetred so no download hit.

Does anyone know if google chromecast works for the AFL live app? It's not supposed to but i thought i saw someone post that it does actually work

Yes and no, you can download the chromecast app (it might be installed on androd devices at purchase i cant remember) and do a cast of the whole screen noting that any popup notifications or whatever will also be displayed on the cast, that may or may not matter to you but I usually put the phone in do not disturb mode for the game. The afl app does not support casting directly which is unfortunate. But if they made it easy nobody would pay for foxtel

It's no longer unmetered so use your home Internet connection where possible. The stream works with wireless enabled these days.

The AFL app doesn't work with Chromecast natively (there's no built in support), however if you have a newer phone you can cast your entire screen onto the TV by using features built-into Android.

None of the Sunday games in the bye round have been on FTA.

Oh good, so the AFL sticks it to footy fans 3 weeks in a row instead of just the once.

This organisation really does [censored] me off.

SO what. Its supposed to be about rewarding performance. Carlton got 6 night games last year. Collingwood has won 5 out of 20 games. The EFC are pernnial losers and yet all get nightgames. Its all bulldust.

I have an android TV now so I just mirror my phone to it and it works, as mentioned quality is not great but watchable enough.

Before I changed TVs I was able to use the mirror screen from my phone thru my chromecast and could watch the AFL app fine on my TV.

Same last week with the Hawthorn game.

Terrible Thursday night scheduling by the AFL.

Recommend using a VPN and signing up to watchafl.afl.com.au

$24 a month I think for every game.

That's a lot more expensive than an AFL Live Pass.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
