I am working with disadvantaged indigenous youth here in Alice Springs and had sent an invite to the club to see if any players could come and chat with them. It was a late invite, yet the club found the time to spend just over an hour with these kids.

Angus Brayshaw and Liam Hullet came out, sat down and talked with these kids about a range of issues. Despite them probably not seeing it, it was a great thrill for these kids. Liam and Angus were very well spoken and generous with their time.

As I will write to the club, I can't thank them enough. They gave these kids a real thrill and by sharing their stories they have helped to reinforce a lot of the work that has been and will continue to be done to help these disengaged youth.

Particularly good of the Club as neither player were emergencies and they would have funded their trip! Well done MFC!

i was Korean Demon

 

none were Dee's before, hopefully some may. We have a Dee in the course, but he never makes it through to the afternoon

Great to see so many positive responses to this, mine is one too.  Well done MFC.

The sad part is that if we stop "selling" our games to the NT, then communities/groups like the above would be starved of these opportunities.  I'm sure RGRS would echo how much this means to the kids/teens/young adults when AFL "stars" have time for them, especially being so remote and often isolated.

Disclaimer; I fully support the idea of playing a home game or two in the NT, providing common sense controls the scheduling of them.

We can also tend to forget that Braysh and Hullet are basically kids themselves; similar age to the young people RGRS works with.  Good on e'm for getting out there.

Seeing I gave a big shout out to the Dee's, I should do the same for Port. Attended a wonderful clinic they put on for schools from the rural community. Would be one of the highlights of these kids year, if not life. They, like our guys yesterday were just brilliant.

 

Byron Pickett was there, let him know he looked much better in red and blue

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
