Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

and so the distracting media circus will continue daily well into next year

(if his management is to be believed)

So what happens if Freo and WCE also have sh#t years next year? If this quote is true, he's basically giving the club an ultimatum, "perform or else I leave. Oh and btw, I'll probably leave anyway."

I'm really not comfortable having a player on our list that's not sure if he wants to stay or not, his manager said he is torn between staying or going home.

To make a serious tilt at finals next year , you'd want list of fully committed players who believe in the goal of winning a premiership with the Melbourne football club.

No what it is saying, is what every other player says to their manager, except Hogan has to publicly state it, I have another year on my contract to run, I'll give it everything I have got for this year, coz if I don't my value and bargaining power will drop, but I will then decide what the next step in my career is to be

Any good player does that Daisy, especially ones who know they are coveted by other teams, the ultimate prize for a player is a premiership, if Hogan doesn't think we are near one, he may well move, Watts had the opportunity this year and stayed, so did others

After every win it'll be "why hasn't Hogan signed yet?" and after ever loss it'll be "he's gone".

Bring on the circus, I can't wait.

To be fair a lot of posters (not just from this forum) have implored the club to force his (Hogan's) hand. This is mainly due to Freo having an early pick. Taking that into consideration I think it is reasonable to expect the club to ask the hard question.

Well yes i agree in fact that is my point to an extent. Lots of people make simplistic calls when it comes to things such as trading scearios.

My point is that the fd are professionals who are paid to make the best decision for the club. I rate our current fd as the best we have had for 20 years. I very much doubt they will force jessies hand.

Assuming i am correct this.means that the fd believes the best thing for the mfc is for them not to force a decision or look to trade him this trade period. That's good enough for me.

I'm probably alone on this one but i don't see how the CBA really affects players decisions that are/have the potential to be on contracts of 1 million or higher.

How much is enough?

Is keeping the team together a priority?

Hawks have/had players taking pay cuts over the past couple of years, Jesse has/had a contract in front of him for potentially around the million per season but is supposedly holding off to see how the CBA plays out....so he can ask for more? At the same time he continues to miss easy shots on goal arguably bringing his price down.

Never fear Freo will most likely blow the budget to finally land their big fish.

Honestly I feel it's an excuse to put it off. I don't genuinely think that's the reason he's putting it off, I think it's just a convenient thing to utilise.

When you're talking the money that he's going to be receiving I doubt the CBA is going to play much of a part in his decision unless the CBA will result in a big salary cap increase.

If Hogans mindset truly is "he's waiting to see how we go next year" that is a concern, considering he's part of it.

35 metres out, slight angle, sprays it right.

Can't agree more BA, he has to understand he is also part of the team and can influence the result on game day.

It's a really poor excuse for not making a decision this trade period.

So if he has a terrible year in front of goal and his value drops like a stone, he is 'tanking', so he feels more comfortable when he finally decides to leave

We should all combine to write a novel, it would be a best seller

I went to film school, I'm actually writing a six part comedy based on the construction industry.

If anyone is interested I made a short 8 minute action movie.

No they don't. There are heaps of players at GWS who extended prior to this year. The same applies to dozens of players across all clubs. They see themselves as being part of the resurgence unconditionally. The same can't be said off Hogan if these comments are true.

Suggestion number one for the book title:

I assume it is a black comedy starring the CFMEU and Gatto

You only a need a synopsis based on the last few pages of this topic and you would have a classic psycho-drama on your hands

Although I think somebody has already had a crack at it

What I said is that they all consider it, not all jump ship, and I should qualify it maybe, money is also a consideration

Having waded through all the hoo ha, I would factor in the following - if his father is gravely ill, there would be some compulsion to stay around the family as opposed to signing up for a long term deal and swanning off to the other side of the country. I know if it were me, I'd be loathe to lock into a long term deal until I was sure about the home front. I realise the club will be very accommodating and I believe it when they say he's happy at Melbourne. For me, that would be the reality of it. In other words, I think it's about the family and not about playing for Melb or Freo or raking in the big bucks, at this time.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
