I think this is more alluding to the fact that the Hawks don't hold back when it comes to the trade period, so much so that they will chase after all the guns in the competition. If not, I would never watch AFL again if Hawthorn were to land Mitchell, O'Meara, Hogan and Fyfe in one year.

Update: Jesse Hogan's old man's health has deteriorated. Naturally this is a difficult time for Jesse Hogan and as such contract negotiations have taken a backseat during this difficult, emotional time. 

However, Jesse has again confirmed to the club that he wishes to remain at Melbourne and sign a long term contract. 

The club has been contacted by Freo both club expect Hogan to stay a Dee as this is what he has been saying. However, if he was to change his mind over the death of his father Fyfe would be the trade.

But let me say again, the club extremely confident (99%) he is staying.

Also the club believes no player in the top 25 will request a trade this year.

Nonsense. Many here are being robustly clinical and removing the lads character and/or motive from the equation and just evaluating the actions or inaction on their merit.

It's not in the club's interest (probably) to see him go.

It's not in club's interest to have him play out 2017 and not signed beyond

Whatever is the impediment to signing on it must be discussed and the club needs to have that signature before trade week. It will be manifest folly to not do so.

This isn't about Jesse as a bloke it's about Jesse's value to the Club. Club cones first.

If folk cannot differentiate, that's then them and not the discussion.

Having lost my father to a long painful illness I can understand how he feels. Very painful. But if GNF's info is reliable, then there are talks going on between the two clubs for what would arguably be the biggest trade of the century.

This is obviously a very stressful and sad time for the family. Clearly his thoughts are with his family and not his footy at this time.

Wish them all well in a difficult time.

Can we now ask for those that want to knock Jesse, to just ease back and give him some space.

Maybe those that attack his body language, might have a better understanding of what he is going through.

Terribly specific result for a player who hasn't agreed a trade to MFC & wouldn't have even spoken to the club, considering Jesse has stated he wishes to stay.

There's definitely an element of truth to your post, but someone is adding a fair bit of mustard, whether it's you or a source blowing smoke up your arse.

Its very simple.

The context is the club and a players value to it. It really doens't matter who it is.

Jesse can do and will what ever is required by his life to be. That and of itself isn't the issue.  Tha'ts one side of a coin. That many here can and will discuss the other side of the coin seems beyond your sensibilities Saty.

If you have even bothered to READ and COMPREHEND properly what is often =written by others  , not just read into things what you will, then the club ought to look after itself , yes.

I have empathy with Hogan's position. It's a very sad and emotional time for sure.  Does the rest of the world stop ? Will the rest of the AFL comp put all things aside ?  Of course not. Some pragmatism , no matter how unsavoury to your good self it might be , must be utilised.

The Club these days will have Plan A, B, C etc

This is one player we are talking about, yes a very good one, with a poor attitude if you listen to some, he is signed for the 2017 season, if he wants to leave this year, I can assume the Club would play more than hardball to get a good deal done.

But if they are comfortable with the situation, where is the rush?

Yeah, you lost me there. It doesn't work this way.

You're telling me that Fyfe and his manager have agreed on a trade to the Demons on the proviso that the personal life of another player may or may not go a certain way, that they may or may not request a trade to Perth? Player movement doesn't work this way and a player of Fyfe's caliber isn't going to make career-defining decisions based on the actions of another player.

Not to mention Fyfe is a free agent at the same time Jesse's contract ends; the club would be braindead to trade for him right now if he wanted to come to us, especially when the full extent of his injury is a mystery to other clubs.

I wonder, is this from your same source that promised us Josh Kennedy, Patrick Dangerfield and Dion Prestia over the last 3 years?

Mate give it a rest. Most people come onto this thread wanting to read news, updates and opinions related to Jesse Hogan. By the way, I saw a rumour referencing a Freo board member a few pages back but can't find the original post? Anyone got it?

My gut feeling now is that he might be gone. I can't find the footage anymore but when he was the Juventus exhibition he was asked about his contract. The way he looked down and made no real reference to staying with Melbourne in his answer made me feel a bit uneasy. Just my opinion, as the media outlets actually reported it the other way afterwards.
