Hunt is in his third season on the list (notwithstanding missing most of the first injured) and Wagner is nearly 22. I'd be surprised if these two were treated with the kid gloves that have been applied to the first year players in Oliver, Weideman and Hulett. Especially not on the back of both of them playing their best games.

The doggies are a great defensive team. The stats prove that. Etihad skewed? Maybe but they contested poession team as well.

Tommac on Jesse stringer. String is a gun but struggles against bigger opponents who can go with him on the ground. Stratton has got his number.

Don't think the Doggies' good run with the umpires (28-12 frees) can be sustained either.

I'm hoping that the media and the Adelaide supporting public keep this subject at the forefront because the usual reaction is a reverse effect the following week.

I reckon it is Etihad skewed. They were very average when we played them at the G last year.

Highlight of the night was a bus load of Melbourne supporters belting out the song about 6 times on the way back from  Metricon to Broadbeach.

A great night to be a Melbourne supporter and I was blown away by the support we had at the ground - both Qld supporters and those that travelled up.

Not that im a big fan but Lumumba would be a good chance to come straight back in.. His run & carry against the Dogs could be useful. Hunt stays for that exact reason. Wagner was solid again apart from the odd blunder. Garland will stay unless it's for Dunn, can't see why they'd make a change after 1 week.

i would be absolutely shocked if hunt or wagner were dropped.

 

the former gives us great pace coming out of defence and the latter is playing a role similar to jonas for port i reckon - undersized backman who can 'play tall' and excels at zoning off.

 

i definitely want salem back down there to just add a titch more class to the side. michie out.

 

it's a matter of how do we combat their surprising height up forward? campbell rotates in the ruck with roughead and redpath, dickson is a classic third tall, stringer is one of the most exciting players in the competition, the bont is even better and drifts forward too, and then they have a mosquito fleet who rotate from midfield to forward.

 

they're going to have the same issues with us - hogan and watts are our keys, but pedo and gawn are dangerous up forward when on song, plus kennedy, kent and garlett forward, and then the rotating likes of trac, oliver, jones, tyson. their match-ups will be stretched too.

 

it's clearly the game of the round for mine.

All I can say is that his disposal is poor. That is purely the reason.

I'm inclined to go with no changes as well, although if they go with Salem for Michie then I won't complain.

I'd be surprised, and a little disappointed, if we made 3 changes.  As far as I'm concerned pretty much every player did their job last night and would be stiff to be dropped.  I don't see why we need to play Trengove - let him continue to build confidence in his body and get fully fit.  We don't need him at the minute.

The dogs play a similar style to the saints. We need to have learned from last weeks game. 

The big X factor however is the G'. The dogs lost 2 from 3 at the ground last year.

Our game style suits the G' better than the dogs. Their fast paced game takes its toll at the G' which is better suited to our contested grinding game. 

The ground also favors talls and our talls are better then theirs.

Agree... We will grind them down. Their style works at docklands but less effective at the larger G

Garland will be undersized against Redpath. I know he was ok against Wright last night who is bigger than Red, but Redpath is one of those big, bulloking key forwards that loves to wrestle in the contest. Wrestling (besides brain fades, disposal and decision making) is one of Garlands weaknesses. Dunn may be brought in. Not to mention they may start Campbell forward with Roughead in the ruck

This week will be a good test of picking the right team to play the opposition and ground. Michie did not do enough. Aside from Garlo's nomination for worst handball I have ever seen he played his role well. With the dogs playing Redpath, Stringer and a resting ruck forward we will need the extra tall back (Dunn, Omac or Frost) I would think unless we are playing Pederson back (which I would  not prefer to stretch them the other way). Hunt and Wagner had excellent games so cant see either missing unless sore. You could possibly argue Salem for Stretch but I cant see who else would miss for Salem or H. It may be a case of bad timing for them and come back through Casey.

You learn so much more about the logic of certain Demonlanders when we win well and they can't help but still demand the changes that they'd been hoping for all season, even when it's completely illogical.

Unless there are injuries that we don't know about (I suspect that Viney will be OK, but he's one that will be monitored no doubt) then there's not a hope in hell for our VFL players to get in next week.

The only two players that will come into consideration will be regulars Salem and Lumumba and even they are not walk-ups this week and if they still show any sign of lingering concussion malaise then they will be given another week off and another week of match fitness conditioning work.

The only two possible outs, and they did nothing wrong, are Michie - who will be omitted if Salem is fine, because they play the same role - clever ball use from down back. The other is Billy, who would lose his spot to H with Bernie spending more time back in the middle and most likely tagging Bont with Bugg being pushed back out to Billy's wing.

Garland is safe - apart from his early handpass which got everyone's back up, he was quite reliable and will be needed to play on either Redpath or resting Campbell/Roughead.

I expect that Wagner will be given his biggest honour yet - a match-up with Stringer, although if H doesn't get up I reckon Bernie will be putting his hand up for him.

The Dogs are now playing three talls up forward (Redpath, Campbell/Roughead and Stringer) - so I'm sorry unless this changes it is absolutely bizzare to call for Garland's omission for Salem.

Hunt was very impressive against Suns, but playing on a resting Daniel or Dahlhaus is a major step up from a first-gamer.

Wright kicked two goals with Garland or McDonald nowhere near him, Michie and Hunt were forced to play on him.
