Demonland has made the difficult decision to not to permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I think Richmond will come out much like Port did last night, fired up and attempting to be tough. Much like Port I can't see them being able to sustain that sort of game for four quarters. We've seen when we stick to our game plan and style we win games, we can't get sucked in like we did against Essendon. We must win.

Agree, another case of 1st qtr specialists. I agree, Tigers are mentally weak.

Things that should be taken into account

We're in better form than them.

We have a better spread of talent then them.

We've bettered them in recent years.

Things that shouldn't be taken into account

We haven't won two in a row for a while.

That Richmond are 1-3 and want to win.

The betting odds.

Looking forward to Buggy going straight to Cotch and giving it to him all night. So much ammo for a sledge thanks Brooke ha.

Or we could just bring in Clint Bartram for this one particular game. I am sure he would have a few interesting choice of words to Cotchin.

That slimey fellow Martin loves to play against us, he's a flat track bully and has loved pushing us around. We need to show him and his long arm up early and often.

I'm not sure why he likes playing us.  Out of all his opponents there is only one he has a worst record against.

Another poster mentioned "consistency" and this is the key.

I believe we'll win comfortably if we bring the right effort as a collective.  The Tigers' game-plan is rubbish in 2016 (too slow), they have an inferior ruckman, they have poor inside mids, they don't have a quality small back and at a time when small forwards are wreaking havoc they're deficient in that area too.

Gawn is pivotal and so are Viney, Tyson and Jones, who should get well on top early.  If Garlett, Kennedy and Kent are 'on' I predict this game could get ugly for Richmond.  I seriously don't rate them.

Like all games, the midfield is the key.

I keep thinking about how this game would feel to the tigers. They've been finalists for the last 2 years ( or is it 3) they won  9 or ten games straight to get there last year including beating the swans and hawthorn. Coach is under the pump. I think they're a stronger side with Deledio back in the mix and I think they ill come out breathing fire. Expect Jack watts to come under some physical heat early.

Im excited, not as confident as some here, but excited about the test this will be. At least I think they have the grunt to withstand a physical challenge. Our footy style looks better, the pace of ball movement seems like its arrived. Hoping we can stamp ourselves as arriving!! ( we're a long way off "arrived" yet)

Good point. It is sobering to remember that it was Adelaide & West Coast that smashed them recently. I too am looking forward to being there tonight but unlike some I expect it to be close.

My predictions:

The Dees crowd will roar when the bells start tolling.

Dees by 36 points.

2 in a row.

I will have a good night.

Dustin will have a bad night.

The 'When will we break these embarrassing records' thread will go into meltdown.

Watts will become the smiling assassin.

Love that Vince and Garlett are back, rested and full of beans. Both are capable match winners on their day.

Nervous   yes  Hope we do not take it like the Essondum game,   We should win ! but we should have beaten the bummers

that aside

we are playing better footy than for many years,   a loss to north (top of the ladder) by only 5 points and 2 credible wins

That's quite good form much better than the tigers,

Our players coming back are good additions to a winning team,

The Tigers changes smell of desperation to get back a winning culture and if either Maric or Delidio are underdone

or get injured again. Then the Tiges are in more shite than a Werribee Duck.

I expect to win, perhaps 20 points, but I have been wrong before, many times !

GO DEES !!    Give em HELL !!

No reason why we don't come out to play right from the first bounce like last week as well. Collingwood were revved up last week too and we played hard .It sets the tempo straight away Don't give this mob a sniff of the ball and run them off their legs.

The media fuss around Deledios return is funny since our ins are better than theirs and happen to be two guys that will cause Richmond fits - they cant stop small forwards like Jeffy and Vince will either run riot in an attacking role or shut down Cotchin.. and run riot anyway

BACK TO BASE CAMP by Meggs

Congratulations to the Brisbane Lions.   Undefeated in all 6 matches against the top teams (North Melbourne, Adelaide, Geelong, and Melbourne). They are worthy winners of the 2023 AFLW premiership.   Our ambition for a Season 8 back-to-back premiership was derailed.   In round 6 Adelaide spilled the beans on the template to outplay us. From there news spread fast to other top teams who applied similar intense physical pressure at the source which crushed our gameplan to execute vi

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE by Meggs

It was a hot afternoon at IKON where the ferocious Cats came to play, had read the manual on how to beat us and the Demons were unable to match them for the first three quarters.     With physical pressure, they took the game on with relative ease and though our resistance seemed better than the previous two weeks it was still not good enough.     Within the opening minute, Kate Hore marks within range, but her shot was a miss-kick, like a fat iron, and it kinda set a flat tone f

    TURNAROUND by Meggs

Following successive comprehensive defeats by fellow Top Four heavyweights the Demons play down a division this Sunday against the highly promising Cats.     Strangely, no games against the Cats for five seasons and now we play them twice in one season.     With the blueprint on how to defeat the Dees available on the dark web the real question is, will we crumble again under the finals pressure cooker or will we rediscover our #DemonSpirit and execute a turnaround?   Mak

THE SECRET IS OUT by Meggs

We were expecting that after last week’s comprehensive defeat by Brisbane, our coach Mick Stinear would have his charges coming out breathing finals fire. Instead, it was North who had the aggression, the numbers, who blocked our scoring avenues and rendered us impotent, unable to match the Kangas during any phase of the match.   Darren Crocker, the North coach, later highlighted that how to beat Melbourne is no secret following recent losses to Adelaide and Brisbane and now North.
