Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think the cap has made endurance more important than speed and he has elite endurance. He can also read the game and anticipate where to run to ahead of time. However, there still has to be a minimum amount of speed for a runner like him. Just hope he gets it back.

I think having him and Dom Tyson in the same midfield would make us a bit too slow. Since he last played we've recruited a lot of midfielders so perhaps they'll use him off half back or half forward if he makes it back.

Its all about how CP5 responds now. He can sook in the VFL and miss even more weeks, or bang down the door completely to confirm his spot for round 6.

Garlett in the side brings more to the team, but I am disappointed we wont see trac on the big stage,

You will see him on the big stage, just not this week. I get the feeling we will see him debut next week against the Saints, all going well in Casey's game tomorrow.

Big thing for him, would first time in his life he has been fit and not picked in a side. Could be good for him give him even more motivation

haha I'm part of that generation :P But being a melbourne supporter since birth has taught me things are never handed to you.... Unless you follow Hawthorn or Geelong then they just hand out flags whenever you want them

If he debuts against the saints at etihad it will guarantee a bigger crowd

I have had this thought also. Good news is the top deck will be actually be open so i'll be able to see the damn game instead of sitting down the bottom and seeing nothing.

I wouldn't want to be his Williamstown opponent tomorrow night.

Saw one of the coaches take Hunt aside and have a word too him, Hunt sat down and looked a bit upset, no idea what was said and not presuming anything , just looked as if it wasn't good news. Hunt then went too boundary and did a few runs by himself. First time ever at a Dee's training in Melb, Burleigh Heads a few years back only other time. Garlett looked fine. Tracca, wow, tree trunk legs, can't wait for his debut. Spencil looks ready as a backup for the bearded one, hopefully not required.

Still a long way too go but we look too finally be on the rite track. Very scarred as a Dee's supporter and will not predict anything for the future, been burnt too many times. At least we aren't favourites against the yellow stripe, tfft.

Can't stand the top deck, feel like i will topple over the edge at any time, oh and you can't see a thing when the ball goes near the boundary in front of you.

I cant comment on the falling thing dont get that, but i do get the boundary problem but id rather not see 5m closer to the boundary (or stand a little) and be able to see the other side of the ground. I feel like down the bottom you cant see the other half of the ground. Regardless I think 2nd level is best, close and high enough to see but thats always reserved because of all the $$$

I Know right! I would understand if they had to get Etihad game numbers up  but that same weekend Carlton plays a home game at the G.... Why cant they just swap them so both teams get to play at their actual home grounds?

I'm not one for conspiracy theories ( can you feel a however coming ?....)

however.....

I vividly recall prior to the draft last year Petracca said to StKilda (reported in the Hun)... "I have X factor and you will not be sorry taking me as no 1 pick"  - or something very similar to that. Interesting that by all reports he has been earmarked for his first game against StKilda..Would it enter the match committees thinking that the man with a liberal dose off arrogance may have even more to prove first game if it is against the team that basically overlooked him ?

I actually think that the timing of his fitness coincides with the StKilda game but I do love a good conspiracy..

I can see the headline now. After saying Petracca only plays if Garlett does not, Melbourne plays Garlett and Petracca and it goes pear-shaped leading the Herald Sun to write "Roos rues ruse". Just a pity it's not against North Melbourne which would have allowed the inclusion of an extra 'Roos'

Nice. Sorry to go off topic but I've been waiting all week for a headline of "AFL to drop draws on Grand Final day". Apologies if this has already been published and I missed it.

I reckon Petracca will be ripping the yellow pages apart right now

I get the feeling Roos and the coaches are doing this to Trac on purpose to keep his arrogance in check.  god knows the dees of 3 years ago would have played Trac in round 2 and brought on the fanfair.  thank god we are being run like an actual proper club now

I'm not sure why posters were poo pooing other posters on the notion of "resting" Oliver.

Roos openly admitted that they "overplayed" Brayshaw last year.

First year players like Oliver come in after the preseason has already started and then are limited in the work they do in that preseason.

To expect them to be able to cope with a full season of the rigors of AFL in their first season is folly.

We as posters have no idea how footballers are physically travelling but as much as I love Oliver in the team I have no problem going back to Casey for "rest".

For those who are also saying that if you are fit enough to play Casey you are fit enough to play AFL, I ask you to consider why there are so many footballer we have seen who do so well at VFL but can't make a fist of it in the AFL. VFL is a good vehicle to get competitive match time, miles into the legs and hone the skills, but reaction times, skill levels, physically  and aerobically there is a wide gulf between AFL and VFL requirements.

Great player management by Roosy and team. But he won't be going back to Casey! He is having a legitimate and well deserved break for 1 game. This will be of fantastic benefit to Clarry Choo Choo!

I think he did one last week in public didn't he? Which did seem a bit odd.

As much as I want to see Petracca debut, I don't want him at the expense of Garlett. He is one of our most important players.

The way footy is being played at the moment with goals "out the back" someone like Garlett is invaluable.

I agree except for the playing at Casey part. What's the point? If you're gonna rest him might as well give him a legit rest. Probably also best to rest him for the longer away trips to Darwin and Perth.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
