Never understood all the love for Murphy, on or off the field.

Hasn't got much going for him apart from being a beautiful reader of the play, balanced with elite disposal as well as being highly articulate wordsmith and a great leader. Oh, and he has almost played 300 games. Pretty ordinary really.

I understand it, I just don't share it.

An absolute legend of our game. Hopefully he comes back. Easily my fave non-MFC player and his columns in the HUN are just about the only sensible sports writing in that paper.

The thing about Bob is that he is actually a decent guy outside of footy. The fact that he is a very gifted player who plays the game in the right spirit and has remained unwavering in his loyalty to the dogs is the Icing on the cake. In all honesty I would have loved him to play for the Dees, and there can be no higher commendation than that.

Robbo was right tonight.. Its sad that he has done his knee but jeez time to move on, worse things going on in life. Whately said it will effect him all year while robbo mentioned he has already moved on.

Im a Murphy fan but the way the media has continue to feel sorry over and over again is a bit cringeworthy to be honest.

I found myself agreeing with Robbo for the first time tonight. His analogy with the baby in Prahran really struck me.

The guy's injured, not dead. He will likely come back and play again next season and it will be glorious. You don't need to crawl into a corner and cry for a whole week because of it; get some bloody perspective in your life.

These injuries happen all the time, not many players get through a career without at least one medium to long term injury, it really isn't the end of the world, though it is a shame when the best players aren't out there playing.

Teams these days are so good at covering the loss of players, as good as Bob is, it doesn't stop the Bulldogs being a top 4-6 side imo

I am seeing kids living in squalor and absolute poverty in Manila right now

Robert Murphy will be fine. If his career is over then he will be the best dam footy journalist by a mile along with Martin Flanagan

Get over it. Bad Shite does happen...

Murphy's always felt to me like a pseudo intellectual, but he seems like a nice guy all the same.

The Petracca ACL was more devastating.  , Robert Murphy has played almost 300 games of footy and hes what, 34?  Hes had a fair crack at it

If I have to hear about bloody Daniel Menzel again...

He landed in the luckiest place a player can, managed to get the opportunity to play some great footy in a winning side and in big finals in his first few years, AND has made it back, into a side that is still better than most.
Cry me a bloody river. Shoulda heard him when he was in rehab, all the other players thought he was nuts and he spoke about himself in the 3rd person like he was the second coming of Jesus, awaiting resurrection.

Even Trengove has nothing on poor Morabito.
A kid like Jayden Pitt or Damien Cavka even moreso.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
