Old Dee, would you please stop referring to Melksham as the Drug Cheat.

He is an MFC player that this club fought hard to attract. I trust Goodwin's judgement on this. Relevantly, he seems to be of very sound character.

Also - it makes you sound small minded and 'old' and bigoted, to me at least. And FWIW - I don't believe you are.

Just stating the facts RB is he not a suspended drug cheat?

However you maybe correct on how it looks so how does " Melksham who cannot play  in 2016 " sound?

To be fair Ron, he's also been found guilty of being a drug cheat. i reckon it's fair enough to be bitter about what Essendon has done, and probably isn't a label that's going to wash off those players in a hurry

it's also fair to put some blame on the club for drafting him, should not have happened

You sound like Ned Flanders Ron

Melksham has been outed by an International Panel for Drug cheating for 2016

It is all Hird's fault!

Any body who really believes that Pederson doesn't deserve to play CHF in the starting 22 is looking through blinkers so far ahead of Dawes is isn't funny and Frost is not a forward never will be.

are you referring to the Pedersen that  over 3 seasons has played 36 games and kicked 25 goals?   (I know some games were played in defence)

he doesnt get involved enough in games and is too slow to put any pressure on.  having said that, he will be CHF for round one I'd say, given dawes is injured.  but to say he is streets aheads of the other options is crazy.   fact is we have no good 2nd fwd/ruck and we need to deal with what we have

Absolutely agree. The #PedoMyths posts have definitely slowed down recently.

His second goal on the weekend showed why he is ahead of Dawes. Good body work to protect the drop of the ball and took the mark. Dawes just would have run backwards into the defender, stuck both his arms up and the ball of hit his hands fallen to ground and PA may have had an easy defensive clearance.

His stats from last season beg to differ. In the 5 games where he had more than 60% game time, he averaged 15 disposals and 7 marks. He had 18 tackles in 7 games. Dawes on the other hand averaged 12 disposals and 4 marks and only kicked 11 goals in 14 games. Dawes only had 21 tackles for the year. Pedersen's numbers are pretty good, and would be a decent foil for Hogan at this stage.

If you look at the build-up to Kennedy's goal from the weekend, Robbie Gray only ran himself into trouble because Sam Frost had come haring out of our forward fifty to put pressure on him from an unexpected angle. Until Pedo shows that he can be part of the team defence in the same way, to talk about him being "streets ahead" is premature. IMO.

If I was choosing the round 1 team right now, Pedo would be at CHF. But I suspect Roos values the defensive contributions of the more mobile Frost and Dawes more highly than we do, and we should take that into account.

I think the Jury is still out on Frost.

Not sure if he will make round one from what I've seen, as I don't really think he has the smarts to play up forward.

id love to see him played down back for a while as he is a good runner and reads the play well when defending.

Pederson should definately be our second tall forward ruck option with Watts and Vanders as 3rd and fourth tall forward options.

Add Kent ,Kennedy and Garlett up forward with Hogan I think that's a pretty potent attack.

Saying the jury is still out in Frost is IMO a bit premature.

The prosecution and the defense haven't even completed their cases.

The jury may be listening but hasn't retired to consider their verdict yet.

He needs a lot more game time to see just where he is best suited, if at all.  IMO it would be great if he could become a tall forward, though Weed and / or Huelett may come into consideration sometime later in the season, depending of course on how the team progresses and if finals are on the cards.

There is a small but significant error in the above mono.

They have not been empanelled yet.

Dwayne commentating GC v WC and has credited Melbourne's second half to the greater number of rotations. You knew he'd be referencing it at some point. Just can't help himself when it comes to the MFC. The only reason he didn't bring it up ten times during the game itself was that he wasn't aware of it.

It's better to have people making excuses about why we won rather than why we lost.

Doesn't seem to understand that we fought back and gained a strong lead before that would have become any factor, and given the age of the side compared to there's i think if anything it makes it more impressive we were able to get into a winning position before the last quarter

both sides had 8 on the bench anyway so it's not like the port players were dead on their feet or something, with the extra players and shortened quarters I worked out that the average minutes onfield per player is approx. 75% of a regular H+A game, as if rotations made much difference

Port started with one short on their bench, as Wingard pulled out in the warmup, and then we lost Brayshaw in the first 10 seconds, so both teams effectively had 7 on the bench.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
