Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

That's it. Old Dee has been kidnapped and you are an imposter. Return him to Demonland now. We want our pessimistic Old Dee back.

I am not pessimistic Mr Leg I just tell it the way I see it and for most of the last decade we have had a list that could not beat time with a stick.

It has not been hard to see the problems over that period.

The list is now substantially better and the wins are going to start happening as a result.

Saturday is no.1 for 2016.

Patience will still be supporters greatest virtue this season. Patience and the need to maintain optimism when things don't seem to be going to plan. Its going to take time for this team to mold into the fighting unit we will see as the season progresses. The list turnover, the acquisition of our young kids and new coach and game plan means it is going to be tough against the hard experienced bodies of the top teams.

A walk in the park compared to 2012/14 Ernest.

You are correct but I firmly believe we are all going to be happy with years journey.

old dee but young in spirit and optimism. You may need to change your  moniker at this rate. But I like your post and feel better after reading it.

There's no doubt that without Jones and Vince our midfield looks a bit young and light on, but I'm looking forward to how they perform.

It will give Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, vandenBerg, Harmes, Grimes, Stretch and Oliver a great guide as to how they're tracking.

You almost have me believing old dee.

I pray you're as right with your optimism as you have been with your pessimism.

Hopefully you are the barometer of the demons fortunes.

Firstly, after watching Jones at training today, I am perplexed as to why he won't be playing. Secondly, I don't feel that the group that will be playing will let us down against the Power. Thirdly, when Trenners and Petracca resume our midfield depth won't be too shabby at all.

p.s. Kennedy and Bugg will also help on the weekend.

Squad named, Weideman, Hulett miss out

Jones and Vince obvious absent

We are not fielding our best side no matter what some may say. I will be interested to see how the following go under a bit of proper match intensity. would like to see all of these get a run.

Clayton Oliver - New kid that has had some good training write ups, This is a chance to see what he might bring and for him to understand the AFL match pressures.

Dean Kent - while we know a bit about him I want to see how he is shaping up after his Hammy problem.

Sam Frost - only played a few games last season and He could be anything according to training reports. Where will he play?

Cameron Pedersen - Want to see him in action. he has to compete for a spot and has the opportunity to take a step.

Oscar McDonald - Mac The Younger. Like to see how he has developed.

Jayden Hunt - Let him loose to see him burn a few.... if he can.

Jack Grimes - New position? new man?

Tomas Bugg - Know little about him and want to see him in action.

Ben Kennedy - As above with the bug

Josh Wagner - We had a big success with a mature aged VDB, will lightening strike twice?

Dean Terlich - Want to know what is with this kid. lighter and more mobile? what has changed?

Weed, Hulett and the Royal family (the Kings) to get a run next.

After looking at our list, I think we have a very good midfield without Jones and Vince.

Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, Vandenberg, Stretch. We also have a glut of talented players who might spend time through here as well which could leave us in the enviable position of having Jones and Vince run off half back with Salem?

I wonder how many boys and girls out there will get exited if we beat Port in the mickey mouse cup. The Dees beat the reigning Premiers and Runner up in pre season practice matches only to receive the wooden spoon.

Interesting to see Sportsbet has Port Adelaide to Win @ $1.19 compared with Melbourne to Win @ $5.25. That's a pretty big discrepancy considering it's a NAB challenge game featuring 2 teams who didn't play finals.

Looks like good value to me!

Yes, but this time, the team we're playing is pretty much fielding their best side. All other things being equal, we have good reason to believe that this game will perhaps be a close reflection of how we will perform in the home and away season.

I really think we're a sneaky chance this week, on paper they should beat us & the impression I get from that broadbent interview is that they expect to, whilst our young guns seem determined to have a big crack given the Gawn, Viney, AVB, ANB & Harmes recent interviews. It's a recipe for a big upset (at least according to the bookies) IMO.

I thought that broadbent interview was pretty funny, toump giving them insight on how we go about things! Ha! For starters there will be 4 new players, players playing new roles & Goodwin instead of Roos at the helm, young guys with plenty of development gone into them over summer, not to mention being a nab cup game their focus would surely be on their own game plan rather than scouting ours. I doubt toump has any idea at all, at least that's how he played while he was here......

Yes Mathew, you better watch young jimmys back, he will be such a huge focus of ours & he's such a fragile young man! Lol

I am just looking in advance at this bunch of kids.

we have a list of 29 going to be reduced to 26 which doesn't include Vince  Petracca Jones Trengove for starters. Who are going to be shaking in their boots come Round 1 when the 33 possibles become 22.

That is a big cut!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
