Welcome to Demonland: Kalani White

Looks a bit like BLUEY and Go dees have signed off without saying thanks to the posters that provided accurate positive answers to their ignorant assertions. Par for the course.

The benefit of a rookie is that the first 100k of their wage is not counted in the salary cap. ( I was yesterday-years-old when I discovered this!)

Assume that the Dees will nominate Kalani in the rookie draft today.

I do think it would have been good to call Kalani White rather than Pass with that pick 56. It would have been a nice position to add him to the main list. Nevertheless no dramas. Let’s give him the handshake today.

We have 2 spots on the rookie list. One for White the other will be for a train on player. Sinnema will be one of them, I'm sure they will pass on pick 5.

As they passed on pick 4, does that mean we have two senior spots available too?

Maybe a rookie to be uplifted, creating another rookie spot and keeping one senior spot for later use.

We really are turning over the list, as 4 if not 5 players, in Melk, May, Tom, TC and maybe McAdam are looking likely to finish this year and possibly more.

Salem, Viney, Lever and Max are not that far behind.

No rookie him. its a lot different on the books and we have 3 senior, mature ruckmen ahead of him on the list. let him develop, no pressure, then in 2 years we will have a much stronger idea whether he will make it.

Yeah. I guess it depends if we like someone such as Ollie Greaves or 2 -3 others. It's much better to look at train on players and go to the SSP but you also have the chance that other clubs take the player you are after in the rookie draft.

Why the aggression? Why the misrepresentation?! You do understand what the 'thumbs up' icons mean? 😯

he is automatically added as rookie demon based on the rules that he nominated as F/S and nobody selected him in ND

Took a while but he's finally here. Here's hoping he can be even half of what his dad was.

His vision shows that he thinks the game quickly, good hands, nice kick, plus leap. Could be a slow burn but has potential to be a unicorn type?

Big nlokes usually take a bit of time. His dad was a nobody for 3 years, then blossomed , take as long as you need

Welcome k white !

Finally after 55 pages of yearning for Jeff’s boy, Kalani has landed in the Red and Blue, praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Welcome home young man, really looking forward to watching you develop and reach your full potential at the Dees but don’t take to long.👍😁

Willem Duursma and Killarney both played for Casey for a game or two in 2025.

Killarney probably did more.

Yeah nah lol.

Durrsma was far more consistent and dominant then White in the VFL.

Kalani looked a bit lost in his first VFL outing (understandable) until the final quarter where he kicked two goals and took some important marks around the ground.

Definitely showed enough to suggest there's something to work with.

And wasn't Jeff #1 pick for Freo? 3 years would have p’d the purple mob off seriously then goes to Demons 😮.

Just a little off-topic p.s. to that vid: Chin's sign-off is a very able, confident one. He's got a bit to offer, I think; more than 'Well, being...' Jack and certainly trapped-in-headlights Jake!

Back on topic, welcome, at last, 'Killarney' (🍀😄)

I am not expecting much from this selection. The worry for me is that no other club showed any interest in him. I know he nominated the MFC but if he was showing a lot of promise at junior level there would have been one club to take him. From memory his father was a first round selection.

It was nice to see Kalani at the W today. Luker picked him up from the airport and brought him straight to Ikon. I told him it was cool that he didn’t wanna go straight from the airport to home (home being Geoff Porz’s house, with Luker and Laela Ebert) and he said it was a pity he missed the first quarter but that’s just how the timing of the flight went. Supporting our girls from the moment he landed ❤️💙

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
