Two cases in court this week involving Bummers and no significant cross examination getting to the nub of the saga.

Dank should get rolled easily in his defamation case, surely? Can he prove that he had a good reputation to uphold?

Well, given that his barrister has already attempted to define reputation as 'what people say behind your back' I presume the argument is going to be that even someone with a bottom of the ladder reputation can be damaged by newspaper reports.

Our national sporting shame has hit the international media. This report made it into the Swiss press in German - Basler Zeitung

Here's the text auto translated by Google and don't worry if it sounds a bit strange because it fits in with everything else about this saga:-

Quote

"The energizer of the club, which coach James Hird afforded plenty of space, developed an impressive power: Over 1500 injections before they took - or let them attach to the players. There were also 16,500 doses of calves blood agent or 8,000 units of the plant extract. On average, each Essendoner received around the 2012 season almost 40 syringes. None of them complained - none of them doubted these pharmaceutical-round treatment.

Even a majority of caregivers, including Coach Hird to Muntermacher let inject or swallowed pills. In Hird is even documented that his body was allergic. But all they trusted Dean Robinson and Stephen Thanks, who knew each other from a common time for other sports clubs. Thanks said after the Causa was busted, loosely related to the staff: 'Yes, we are a bit over the allowed list of the World Anti-Doping Agency gone, but there were indeed no players involved.'"

If there's anyone out there with the knowledge and ability to do a proper translation of that gibberish from German, I would really appreciate it.

It probably says something that Google Translate is the only source of appreciation for Dank's contribution to football.

Actually this gibberish sounds a lot like a Dank interview.

Love to hear what the DrugsLord's lawyers have to say as German looks like the perfect language them. Long may these Scumbags suffer!

Another Journo to add to the list of journos with no real understanding of what is going on.

The penalty imposed on Essendon is crap

It would be funny if it wasn't so blatantly wrong and apologetic.

Not sure anymore what the Murdoch Press is trying to prove in this now. Their lies and distortions are going to make zero difference to the outcomes, unless they think they somehow can influence the damages claims coming down the pipeline against Hird, Little, Essendon and the AFL.

TheY can't of course, but seemingly it doesn't stop the sicophants on the staff of the Murdoch press from doing their obsequious numbers anyway.

If nothing else, an interesting study in physiology. Someone will write the thesis someday.

WJ - I can't open the link, or find and relevant story.

If you PM me the full link I may be able to get it translated by a human not a machine.

Having trouble opening it myself now so I googled the name of the newspaper and Essendon and got this. It all sounds like German to me but if you understand the lingo then you might be able to follow a link and find the article.

Good luck.

The corporate world understands what Hird has done and that he is on the nose, so to speak.   EFC are trying to sell naming rights to James Hird Academy:

"The James Hird Academy wishes to announce the availability of major and individual player sponsorship opportunities for season 2015/16, reads the pitch, which was sent out just before Christmas....This is a fantastic opportunity to promote your product, service or corporation in conjunction with the academy."

Needless to say, there hasn't been a thundering herd of takers for Hird. This is despite the fact here are some legendary surnames on the academy list. Hird has three sons in the program, and names such as Neagle, Daniher, O'Donnell and Alessio abound...Maybe that explains why the academy recently started using the name "JHA".

Using just JHA, the golden boy's intitials...another piece of EFC trickery!

They should rename the Academy to someone more worthy:  Daniher, Watson etc

While I'm at it the AFL should remove him from the Hall of Fame.

The father of the drug cheater who appears to believe the interests and future of the club are of paramount importance and far outweigh the welfare and well being of his own son and potential grandchildren. Oh well, you make your choices just as Jab and his team mates did and you live with them. I would be protecting / supporting my offspring to the hilt.

They may have more luck if they change the academies name to Drugs R Us. If nothing else it would be a more accurate depiction of their club's culture.

And of course Golden Boy still has a Charile too.

Had he just recovered from his debilitating foot injury when he won?  Was one of the drug conspirators at the club at that time?

Needs to be renamed the Downlow Medal if this keeps up.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
