Poor old James still doesn't get it.

The conversations went on between lawyers/solicitors/QC's and their opinions is irrelevant.

The case is about Chubb not indemnifying him for initiating legal action.

He chose to do it. It would appear he was not insured to do so.

I can  somewhat clarify as I handles our companies insurances and we use Chubb.

It is not a matter of him being covered by insurance for legal costs.

If we want to take legal action or reject claims that may lead to legal action taken against us that we believe will be  covered by our insurance policy we need approval to proceed with our course of action from the insurer  BEFORE we proceed - the insurers then will advise us which direction to take as the are they bunnies who have to cough up the dollars.

Hird's take: the entire affair was an attack on his reputation. (Players', club's, competition's: mere collateral damage.)

Therefore any action he takes in defence of that reputation is justified and in fact required.

Doesn't matter if any step in the defence is reactive or proactive. It's all part of the same game and the one end.

Surely any reasonable insurance company can see that? In the "legends of the game" clause for instance?

You don't even have to pay the premium if ya covered by the "legends of the game" clause!

All yokes aside Hirdy was never going to pay, his "patron" is just trying it on Chubb!

When you have a few hundred million it's all just a game!!

Yes but you are forgetting about the Tird Clause in the contract.

I am thinking of changing insurers away from Chubb purely based on the company they keep.

Grymer as I understand has fused vertebrae in his back.

That hardly seems a great way to re start an AFL career and surely he must be risking even more serious injury trying to play a sport at this level.

One thing that will please Hird now is that he can ditch the pleb KIA that was ubiquitous at his regular door stop interviews and go back to his silver patrician Jag.

I am so glad to hear the name of this insurer.

I don't have any policies with them but certainly won't take them on, ever.

I'm not getting what sins have been committed by Chubb.

It's not like they said, "oh okay. It's not covered by the policy but here you go. $$$$$ for your lawyers. I guess everyone else's premiums will have to go up now."

If you want to look at it another way, they've taken EFC's money and pocketed it. Maybe they're the good guys!

Heard on the radio tonight that there are 7 Bummer top up players that played a combined 6 games last year. Jamar was 5 of those.

They will be so light on for fitness.  They should get smashed this year.

I think Jamar (5), Stokes (14) and Kelly (17) are the only ones who played last year, correct me if i'm wrong.

And they only have 8 confirmed top-up players. 9 if Grima is confirmed who played 0 in 2015.

Funny isn't it. If it were me, I'd pick up the phone to Chubb before spending $750,000 on lawyers. You know, just in case.

Hird's arrogance is astounding.

No time for Jags. Performance and good looks but deeply flawed and expensive high maintenance just like Mr Tird. My cousin was an engineer for Jaguar and warned me off them.

No one else seemed to know what was going on before this all hit the fan - not sure how the insurer would have known. It appears that Hird has got ahead of himself and is now trying to claim legal costs and the insurers have knocked him back (is that correct ? - if so nothing unusual if the insured didn't have the insurers approval to proceed and they would cover costs) - I was tongue in cheek about chubb and to be honest they are really good company to deal with.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
