The red with blue logo looked pretty good and could never clash with anyone concerned with clashing with our traditional strip.

Agree, great looking clash jumper and far better than the red, white/silver, blue wimpish things the team's used in previous years.

And, I bet they'd sell better too!

The main problem I have with the alternative strip is that we have to wear it far too often. In reality we don't have that many clashes and if it happened 4 or 5 times a year, we wouldn't be concerned.

The AFL should review their rules and be reasonable about their application. We

Yes WJ it has become the AWAY strip not the clash strip.

But it is all about TV and the money they pay.

So enjoy the white jumper at most away games.

In this day of HD TV....manicured grounds where it wet but there is no mud......horrendous clash strips adopted by some clubs which have no relevance to traditional club colours.    I still can't see the need for clash strips.   I know clubs do it for extra merchandise sales but I would refuse to buy stuff that is not our traditional colours.

how essendon reckon changing their black and red jumper to red and black helps much, Ive no idea.  and ive no idea how the AFL approve this.  The whole idea it to use different colours so we can follow the game and so the players know who is on their team FFS

every team should have a clash jumper that is >80% not including any colours from their home jumper.  I really like our white one and it works well.  But I agree that obviously it should only be worn for the 4-5 actually clashes we have per year

If there is any clash then I am quite happy for the home team to wear all white and we will just wear Red and Blue on account of the fact that we invented the f**king game itself and started the competition in it's entirety .

This is a very poor decision by the AFL and is a huge backward step.

Essendon's reluctance to wear a proper alternative strip is directly correlated with the fact that we almost never get a home against them. Indeed, the AFL go to huge lengths to avoid the clash, with Melbourne often playing away to Essendon at the MCG. To compensate against us this season, Melbourne are playing St Kilda twice at Etihad.

Finally I am a contributor to the Demonland.
Long time reader first time poster.
I think we need to talk about the Dons announcement at their AGM of their intent to change there clash strip.
And the apparent loosening of AFL's laws on the clash strip. Especially since we have our white one and the Bummers are looking to not have the grey or white... but an all red and black clash strip.

p-iss off the clash strip all-together;   it's wrecking the game & the feel of club & community,,,  & is just another cash grab,  which in the end hurts this competition & the game itself.

I think the logo is way too large. Couldn't we have our new Melbourne logo front and centre? (Larger of course)

GRRM why the clash with WCE?

West coast home jumper this year is now the same as their away royal blue jumper except it's navy blue. So fairly similar.

Id put an attachment up but am too lazy

for all those people who used to argue "suck it up" and "you can't beat city hall", maybe they could explain how essendon has convinced the afl to have a clash jumper in just red and black. especially given essendon's current lowly status. i'll be waiting.

DC, you know all too well that logic and the AFL are not good mates ... :blink:

Sad ... I quite like the red clash jumper, and can never really get behind anything with the white or (shudder) silver. Bizarrely the clash jumper is about the only thing we do better than Hawthorn ... :)

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
