Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jake Melksham's a Demon now!

I think in the main the worst that most could be accused of regarding Milk as a player was/is indifference. What some like myself are concerned with is the wisdom.

He presents as do many. A reasonable young lad trying find his way and ply his trade. He has though made one almighty stuff up in judgement. How this affects his immediate Demon involvement should be known soon enough.

I dare say any suspicion about his overall worth is not a personal one, just circumspect.

beelzebub, ease up on your drum! FFS

We ALL KNOW he was at Dons and may have WADA issues, so do our club who, last month recruited him to the club.

The MFC obviously see the upside as outweighing the risk.

I was being very matter of fact Paul. Anyone who simply ignores the situation doesnt/can't truly gasp the gravity of it.

What the club is OBVIOUSLY doing is rolling dice.

That's an aspect of his indenture.

As to him as a player. Who knows. Again he sounds like he wants to play and refund his passion. Good for him. We should all follow our passion.

Yes he's a Demon. I just wonder when he'll get to play as one.

Mate, in a thread celebrating Jake Melksham's arrival and potential for the club, that is all of 28 posts long, you've made the same OBVIOUS point 4 times...

Find a new tune.

Who did? And did they say they hate him personally or hate him on the field? I'll assume you can discern the difference.

If your only contribution to a positive thread is going to be snide, back it up. If not, a better option may be to pipe down and let the supporters welcome the new signing with optimism.

Wasn't so much hate but downright bagging him and few pot shots thrown at him and the club for the reportable 4 year deal and on big money.

I was one of many who wasn't happy at all that we chased him. Il reserve my judgment till the 2nd half of 2016. I Wish him well but again not someone that fills me with great excitement.

Paul. It obviously escaped you I was answerinintune with Pman who was suggesting RPFC was wrong in suggesting the many 'hated'him(milk) before he joined and have changed tune. I agreed with Pman that the idea of hating was a misnomer.

I simply showedmuch angst wasn't so much against the player as opposed his selection and why.  Pity you seem to want to berate and not see the actual point.

If he escapes WADA CAS sanction, somehow (and nobody here know if he will or if he will not), he could be a great pick up off HBF through the midfield.  His disposal looks good, and he will be superkeen to move on from Hird's disgusting human experimentation program.

In his vid he talks of being on the hb line.Someone who can drive off half back and follow up..knows where the sticks are speaks of a very different style of play we're used to. Seems we're looking to move things up a gear in 16... Woohoo

That's exactly my point. It largely wasn't anything to do with him personally which is where the interview provides a little insight. Certainly not from anyone whose commented here that I recall. The word "hate" gets thrown around so liberally by some it has lost meaning.

Many had/have reservations for various reasons, but I doubt anyone doesn't wish him the best as a Demon. It's abundantly clear he needed a fresh start.

Boy he can really roost the ball. Off both feet as well. Penetrating, accurate kicks is something we sorely lack. I can see why they're thinking HB as if he can carry the ball 20 metres and kick long he can get get it over the press and quickly into our 50, allowing our forwards to get one out, much like those couple of goals Brayshaw set up for Gartleltt against Collingwood (i think).

I liked what he said about Goodwin sounds like a really good leader

I like what Goodie had to say to Jake even more.

“He gave me a ring and could see I wasn’t enjoying my footy or reaching the potential that I had. I’d go around [to his place] for dinner often [and one day] he said ‘come around, we’ll have a chat’,” he said.

“At the start, I thought it was just a normal dinner … and when we got there, he spoke about the possibility of coming to the club. He said ‘you need to ask yourself what you want to get out of your footy career? You need to find that passion and reignite yourself again’.

“He said ‘I’m not going to pressure you into anything and it’s not going to [change] our friendship if you do come [to Melbourne] or don’t. It’ll still be the same – there will be no hard feelings, but I just want you to get the best out of yourself’.

I'm very comfortable in trusting Goodwins read of the situation and hoping that he's on the money.

If he is, then the trade will be a clear winner.

I am so sorry for using the word 'hate' Pman and BB.

When I have time I will grab all the 'non-personal' comments about this person when he was a prospective Demon, and even when he was newly minted...

...you said it...you own it.

I appreciate what the idea was in terms of the negativity towards Melksham  and it is quite possible someone did indeed hate. But in the main it was dismay I would think that was the over riding sentiment.

Hate..and Hero...two much misused words imho

I have always been super happy with this trade. And, unlike many here, I thought the deal was really good from our perspective - not overs at all.

Having just watched the interview again confirmed to me that we got a good deal here.

Looks to be a good cultural fit - and his highlights package is great viewing.

Loved his feedback on Goodwin too.

Melksham with play in the red and the blue in 2016.  I expect him to line up in the first round.

No doubt he has the capability to become a good player. he has brain fades but like N Jones goes 100% and will eventually work out a way. is a good long kick and has a bit of old fashioned grunt in him.

In my view, WADA is only going through this process, as they were appalled as to how the investigation was carried out by ASADA. In this case, what I believe mitigates in the players favour is the fact that they acted on the instructions of their employer, who is duty bound to provide a safe workplace.  It would appear that there is a prima facie argument that this may not have occurred.

If there are any sanctions handed down by WADA to players, I reckon they will be back dated (token) suspensions.  In my view, WADA'S real target is the employer in this case.

Im sorry Iva...that is not how WADA operates nor why.  Wada's targets are cheats..  its pretty straight forward.

As it happens Im quite interested to see how Milkshake  might perform in a Demons  side. I just don't expect it any time soon. Some will say that's just harping on.. Id reply with that's just reality. What point sticking head in sand.

Clearly we disagree Bub.  As with any of these media driven processes, there is an overarching "political" reality.  Cheats????  Of course, we will have to wait and see, but I suggest young men acted on the instructions of their employer, were told everything was kosher and were asked by their employer to sign a disclaimer.  In my view, by any measure of reasonableness,  that will mitigate in the players favour.

I'd suggest Bub, this is anything but "straight forward"

Sorry IVA, WADA see it as: "It is up to the responsibility of the person to check with the relevant authorities (ASADA, WADA) about the nature of the drug, even when the employer says it is OK"

There is ample precedent from WADA investigations to suggest otherwise.  I look forward to Jake suiting up for the first round in 2016.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
