Very confident two of Curnow, Francis or Parish will be ours.

Will even go as far to say I reckon we'll have Francis at 7!

For me it's a quesation of Parish or Curnow at 3.....

Someone on the big footy board who is connected to the Geelong Falcons seems to think Goodwin is keen on Parish and has been for a while. I'd be surprised if we didn't pick him.

Willing to take this bet. Francis wont make it to us.

My reasoning is that Essendon will take whichever of Parish or Curnow we pass at 3 with their Pick no 4.

Will likely take Weideman at 5, Mathieson dark horse if they want a midfielder.

Gold Coast I reckon wants Millera at 6.

Francis ours at 7.

Mathieson just looks like a grunt player who doesn't provide much else from my limited viewing.

A bit like Matt Crouch.

Parish and Francis. Please.

That's what they also said about Ollie.

Please MFC Don't make the same mistake again

And Mathieson

Have you ever seen him play 'olisik'? you keep repeating the plays like Lewis mantra that some amateur draft watcher labelled him with. These likenesses are usually way off track.

e.g.:Toumpas is a little bit like Jimmy Bartel, in that he is excellent in the clinches, lifts for big games and can play through injury, as highlighted by his performances throughout the U/18 Championships, when he had a dodgy hip. But unlike Bartel, Toumpas possesses great speed,

or knightmare comparing him to Luke Hodge...

While I take your point, Essendon have been very keen on Francis as have GC. I dont think that he drops considering how much they have been interested all year. I know that SA boys tend to go under the radar but I think he is too talented to drop that far. Would love him though.

I think Weiderman drops to us at 7 as Milera had an amazing finals series in the SANFL. At this stage though De Goey was still a teens pick and so was Bontempelli. Ahern came out of nowhere as well. Seems too high for McKay, Ah Chee might go up the draft order as well, there are words on Hibbard but I dont see him near a top 10 talent. Tucker and Matherson should be around there as well.

I dont think we will be surprised on draft night though. Our club knows who goes at Pick 1, 2, 3, and 6. I assume they have an inclining at 4 and 5, but I'm sure we should know in the next week or so who will go where.

Yes, he is your typical midfielder. He won't stand out like a star but will get the job done for the next 10 years. We can never have enough of these type of players. Has much better footy smarts then Curnow and knows how to find the ball.

Kicking can be improved but [censored], said the same about Ollie. This kid is competitive and that can't be taught as we have seen with Watts ToumpAs Cook ect

Would also love Rioli.

He's outrageous. Looks exactly the same as Cyril.

Would be happy if we snapped him up at 7 too.

Francis at 3 and Rioli at 7.

Choices...

Ollie was built like a bull and his hands were also always really good.

I'll put my hand up for wanting Toumpas ahead of Wines that year but I just can't see the Mathieson/Wines comparison other than that they're both competitors.

We need more than that from our picks though. We have a host of competitive players/mids now. We need class, kicking skills and footy smarts as well as a player who is competitive and that shouldn't be too hard to ask for especially at pick 3.

Pick 7 will be decided on a 'who's left' basis.

More like Dunstan than Ollie to me, a bit of a vanilla mid and we can find them later...

If we picked Curnow at 3, Parish would be almost certainly snapped up @ 4 or 5, the Druggies might also be inclined to take Francis.

Curnow + Weideman would be a good draft result.

Curnow + Francis would be a good result, Parish + Curnow would be a good result, Parish + Francis, would be a good result, Weideman +......................you get the drift. There is no wrong combination imo.

Those who will start to worry about making the wrong choice again, take a chill pill. I'd rather we have the balls to take a chance again than let doubt take hold of us (seriously, step up). I'll back Taylor to the hilt with who he picks, it seems to have gone pretty well so far.

When in doubt just select who Hogan wants, so he can quickly sign on for a long-term deal. If that is the catalyst, then we have already won.

People need to realise that by pick 7

Weitering, Curnow, Schache, Francis, Parish and Weideman will likely be gone.

Leaving us to choose from

Milera

Mathieson

A Parish/Mathieson double would suit me fine, although wouldn't be disappointed if we drafted Francis or Curnow either.

Decisions, decisions...

We are definitely taking a KPF with one of the picks, nothing is surer

Reckon we need a tall at the pointy end of the draft. We're not a very tall side and we have a couple of NQR talls on our list presently.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
