Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Don't want Casboult. Not only can't he kick, but a more agile tall like Gunston or Stringer is the go.

Not trying to be a smartarse but are there any like that available?

If so, I agree. If not, I reckon Casboult would offer more than Dawes currently does.

Aren't we waiting for Watts to play the Gunston role? Whilst a lead up forward who can mark would be nice, I don't want Hogan being the sole crash and bash player in our forward line. Casboult can do this and relief ruck.

As an aside, I'm not convinced with Frost as a forward. His kicking is on a par with Casboult, and he's not as good a mark.

I know it's not Trade Radio but Josh Mahoney will be on SEN at 4:25pm. He'll probably go over the same stuff without any real updates but would still be worth a listen.

If anyone can listen in and give a quick wrap of what he say for those of us, like myself, who can't listen in then that would be greatly appreciated.

Dunno. Tom Lynch from Adelaide would have been nice.

Petracca will help our forward line next year.

We tried Dunn forward in round 23 against GWS. It will be interesting to see where he trains over summer. He might make a better fist of the forward-line with lots more experience under his belt and a player like Hogan up there. Frost, McDonald boys and Garland can release Dunn forward. I'm not averse to the idea.

im no dyed in the wool fan. Rather ambivalent about Levi. But 'can't kick' simply isn't correct . Hes an average to slightly better kicker of the ball. He's a halfway decent mark who's hands make Dawes' look like iron mitts. A criticism of Levi is a bif of a reminiscence of some of our own bygone Demons in so much as can be which Casboult turns up to play. He can vague in and out of games. He seems to have made some ammends to this but im not an avid watcher.

He can present and knows the locale of the 2 big ones. Hes a poor mans KPF.

That might be sufficient as a foil for Jesse.

If they looked at Levi the future of Dawes and Pedo is determined.

Great mark, crap on the ground and a poor set shot. No thanks.

A liability in the forward line with the way footy is now played.

39 - 23 in last 2 years. Hows that a poor set shot ?

It's all in reality bullshlt though. Bout as real as Essendons coaches interviews

Sure ..... they were determined to get a fully qualified pharmacist this time instead of a fully qualified narcissist

I would think we need a runner in that CHF slot, someone who can & will cover a lot of ground and have the smarts to leave plenty of space for Hogan to work in.

I'm not so sure about the pressing need for the ruck/forward role as much now with the sub going but less rotations may mean 4 mids on the bench so it could still be a priority. I guess time will tell, it's going to be interesting to see how that one evolves.

Petracca, Trengove and if we go to the draft either Curnow or Balic will provide good marking power forward next year. We need to find that other key forward or forward/ruck...

Does / can / will Casboukt ruck? We know he can mark

I

He's had a fairly interrupted start to his career because of injuries and like Salem showed glimpses in his first year when used predominately as a sub.

He's actually had some really solid games in the VFL so I'm not sure why you say that.

I agree that we have a handful of guys who play that half-forward role who we're trying to develop. But given his height, speed and kicking, I think he could also be given a role on a back flank.

Beggars can't be choosers.

We are a club who can't attract stars of the game yet. Lennon is seriously talented and we need talent at our club.

All this "he" can be confusing in a complex thread -- are you referring to Frost?

Not trying to be a smartarse but are there any like that available?

Any like what? Running ruck forwards?

Yeah he had a couple of VFL games where he hit the scoreboard, but he just flashes in and out of games. He will have a moment of brilliance and than go missing for a whole quarter, like Howe. I have gotten to the stage where I want players who will themselves to contest after contest. Players always make their presence felt even if they are having an off day. I don't see that desperation to be involved in Lennon

Disagree was finally looking like he belonged in the lead up to the finals and IMO cemented his place in their best 22. Certainly put together a good run of games let alone 4 good quarters, Dimmer dropping him for the final certainly backfired

Begs the question then why does a second year player crack the shizens at being dropped for a final.

Fair front on Lennon's behalf.

Alternatively, Tom Mac. Has the pace and durability to run any defender off their feet and can take a grab. The biggest question mark is ball use, though given the way that defenders are required to attack now, I can't see that being any more of an issue than it is as defender.

Casboult's kicking from set shots did seem to improve towards the end of the year. Introduced a more consistent routine with a lower ball drop.

Still pretty ordinary though, especially once the ball hits the ground, and at 26 next year he's older than I thought.

The AFL are a corrupt joke of an organisation. Seriously when will clubs say enough is enough and start holding them to account? I know the media would never do it as they would be ostracised and have their credentials/access revoked.

That doesn't include shots that end up out on the full...

Not a joke, I think there would be plenty.

For what its worth i have reasonable mail that he may be open to a move.

I can't see how he could play with Dawes but to be honest I would rather we had Levi. He is a brilliant mark and perhaps limited in other ways but he and hogan would be an intimidating double act that would really stretch most defenses. Does he ever ruck?

he started off as a ruck when younger. He could possibly be brought up to speed somewhat to pinch hit.

and he averages <10 disposals with 5+ marks, which means apart from the big grabs he doesn't do much else for the rest of the game

i do like his marking though and his goalkick in 2015 was running at 67% (24:12)

That would be my concern is exactly how he and Hogan would compliment one another.

Re his accuracy, as Monde mentioned that doesn't include out on the fulls. He'd have quite a few of them.

A forward that can mark but cant kick a set shot a liability? Well I guess we already have one of those but id prefer that to a forward who not only cannot mark but rarely creates a contest that goes to our advantage.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
