Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GWS are reported to have granted defender Curtly Hampton permission to explore trade opportunities.

I met him and some members of his family up north on holiday in the summer before he started with the Giants and the research I did on him suggested that he had a good career in front of him. He only played five games this year.

Anyone know what happened?

A solid individual from a solid Central Australian family.

Has speed and good disposal and from the GWS games I have seen (we see a heap in the NT) he seems to be a good decision maker.

Was an absolute lock in their back six for a while there, but injuries and competition have kept him out. Admittedly he has had a difficult year, but I understand injuries have played their part. From what I understand he has the ability to play out of the middle and no doubt aspires to do so. I can seem he and Salem in a couple of years time rotating across half back and into the mid-field.

I'd love to see him in Red and Blue, and I am very confident that our recruiters will be onto him if they think he is a good thing.

Exactly what we need. Another half back with pace was one of the things i had right at the top of our shopping list along with another quality mid and a key forward/2nd ruck.

Wonder what he'd cost?

Scully will probably be rookie listed by the end of his contract purely to save face.

Anyway, Curtly is a big tick from me. Great kid, competitive, had a bad year with injuries but won't cost an arm and a leg to acquire. Apparently we were interested a few years ago so he's been on our radar.

Living in Sydney I've watched a lot of GWS games.

Natural competitor - Yes he takes the game on and as someone eluded to he has dash and dare.

Footy smarts - He finds himself in the right places at times, when he has the ball he has the right intentions but see below....

Disposal - His disposal is diabolical, it's that bad it's beyond a joke.

It's a no.

To elaborate (beyond a joke might be a bit harsh but let's remember he is playing AFL) his kicking is like The Princes, an up and under style with the ball often going over teammates heads or falling short or out of bounds. I found myself laughing out loud in disbelief watching him.

When someone is drafted, ideally they already have elite disposal. Those that have good disposal work with the skills coaches to try to improve to elite disposal. We already have enough players on the list that we read things like "his disposal has improved this year" which translates to "it gone from shizen to ok at times".

Again I must be watching different games to most.

Anyone who says Scully had a bad year clearly didn't watch a single GWS game, he was very important in plenty of their wins.

Will he get the same size contract? Of course not. Will he get a contract at all? Of course he will. To say otherwise is ridiculous.

The constant Scully bashing is so tiresome. No one would've turned down the amount of money they threw at him.

Back to the thread... would love to see Hampton at the Dees.

I searched in vain to find his 'highlights reel'.

All I could find was a 3 goal haul in a GWS ADL game which didn't show a lot.

Anyone have a link?

And TMac and HL

Tmac falls under the "shizen to average" and is getting better. But his primary role as a defender is to take intercept marks which he does and spoil the ball which he does.

If we were organised better and had Salem(he was injured for part of the year) and someone else with similar skill he would simply take the mark and handball off to one of our back flankers.

I've said before key position defenders and ruck men aren't are probably the only exception to the "elite disposal when recruiting" rule.

Was one of the highest touted players to ever come through the junior program. Highly skilled, 'untouchable' but struggled to make the step up. Looked pretty good down back for GWS but Heath Shaw, Zac Williams and Nathan Wilson have overtaken him.

I would actually love seeing Hampton on the opposite wing to Stretch.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
