I would never encourage fellow supporters to stay at home, but I suggest the time has come for us to send a message to the team. We are fed up with the sequence of insipid first quarters. I propose that all MFC supporters turn up at Quater Time this week at Etihad.

Thats a stupid idea.

FFS Farewell game for Crossy and possibly Russian, time for respect not making a silly statement. First 10 mins of the second quarter was the issue last week not the first, effort was there in the first just not the execution of the plan

This is almost certainly part of the club's thinking releasing the Cross stuff beforehand.

I'm a bit disappointed Wayne as wasn't it your idea for supporters to turn up to training after 148? I would expect that idea off any number of villains on this site (you know who you are) but I wouldn't have expected it from you.

If you think I'm coming all the way down from Sydney with my son in tow (in his leg brace) only to give a quarter of the game a miss in some misguided "protest" (not to mention the fact that it would be a kick in the guts to Cross), you must have rocks in your head. Ridiculous idea!!

Whilst i like your loyalty i can see the value in missing the start (as a fan).

As i hinted to BBo during the norf game- the worst thing you can do is stink up the first quarter.

It ruins it for us all when they give away 7 goals as a welcoming gesture .Especially kids.

I haven't been back since and they've done it ever since.

So fcuk them-overpaid nancies don't deserve nor need my cash and time.

The follow up explanations from the club are more sickening.

It's actually a worthy idea, but the timing is wrong.

We did similar things with Melbourne Victory years ago when they tried to shunt those of us who sang behind goals.

People power works, but you need a large passionate group for others to rally around or lead the way, and TBH I don't think you can make the same sort of mark for AFL unless you got say the cheer squad to do it.

When the north end was empty and no singing at the game until say the 70th minute or even post game that means you are seen and heard. AFL has supporters all over the ground. Would need both members areas and cheer squad empty, then full after quarter time to make a ripple.

Given the players dont usually arrive till the 3rd quarter, well after the match is over, I'm not sure the players/club would even notice a "first half" protest!

Well the difference is that with Victory it was a concious decision. In Melbourne's case, I don't think they *choose* to be poor in the first quarter. They're just not a very good team. Boycotting probably wouldn't achieve anything.
