Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In all seriousness though...who is that bloke and what has he done with Barret ?? lol

I actually agree with him ( need to shower now)

The chopping block needs to be resolute and the knife sharp !

Terlich, Bail, Fitzpatrick, M Jones, McKenzie, Garland, Grimes, Dunn, Howe are all players I expect to either be sacked, traded or sign elsewhere. I have liked Grimes but imo he might seek time at another club. Wouldn't be surprised if Dunn requests a trade.

Watts is another who may entertain a trade but I'd like to see him stay.

Not much I disagreed with in there, particularly Barrett's simple comment of "more wins". It's sort of like saying "we have to score more than the opposition" but it's true, we can't afford stupid losses like the St Kilda, Essendon, and Carlton. We just have to win games and get positive emotions around the club, especially the young guns who will be driving the club forward.

Speed and skills as Gary said must be a priority in the trade/draft period, a jet like Stringer is exactly what we need (hopefully Tracca will be part of that).

It's positive, but we're on a knife edge.

Add Prestia, a fit Pedersen for structure, one or two pick ups like McKenzie, natural improvement from our younger guys and we'll win 10-12 games, IMO. We must eradicate any blow outs though and close the gap between us and the top 4 teams.

If Watts and Dunn have stayed this far - they won't willingly leave now I wouldn't think.

Still in shock they both said we will go up next season Not because we wont but because Damian Barrett and Garry Lyon said it.

And I love the Petracca talk, something for us supporters to look forward to for sure.

Dunn said after his last contract that he will be a one-club player and is very happy about that. He is signed up for the next 2 seasons, which takes him to 30.

Garry's passion and love for the Dees showed when he talked of crying like a baby while watching the Geelong game this year.

It brought home to me that when he makes critical comments of the Dees he is only doing his media job.

He loves, hurts and cries along with the most diehard of us Dee supporters.

I think having Frost back, allowing Dunn to be the third defender, will make him look a lot better. Still don't mind him as a player and his 2014 was very good but he can do some very dumb things.

Always has a crack though.

Agree. We have won a few games unexpectedly this year and lost games we should have won to improve. Wins over St Kilda, Carlton and Ess would have shown us as exceeding expectation this year. Must win those next year.

4/10. The Demons took strides forward but every time they looked like taking a definitive step, they were held back by inconsistency. The young core is developing nicely but the list requires major redevelopments before finals come into the equation.

Harsh but fair I thought.

One of the more interesting comments was: "Lumumba's role was undefined and he struggled mightily because of it."

I don't know where Ben Guthrie got that but if true quite and indictment on our coaching staff.

Hate to be pedantic but 'redevelopment' is the wrong word. Geelong needs a redevelopment. We need to stop dealing with shoddy contractors that stall building works.

If 10 is a premiership then 4 is about right. 6 or 7 would be making finals. Hopefully next year will be one of those seasons for the Dees where a team makes a fundamental gain because they had been so close to significant improvement but had been waiting to turn over the last few NQR players, trade well and find consistency

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
