Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If we can get Lynch, we'd be stupid not to try. He's a good lead up forward and leads the AFL in goal assists, while banging through 27 of his own. Not only that, he averages 20 disposals a game working up the ground. He'd immediately become one of the most productive players in our team. On work ethic alone he is worth it. Big upgrade on someone like Dawes who tries but just can't cover ground and clunk marks. Lynch would fill this role for us and setup Hogan nicely.

He has a young family and therefore wants a longer contract to help secure his families future. Adelaide only prepared to offer 2 years at about 350k. We're offering 3 or 4 years 400-500k. In the grand scheme of things, we've paid for more than that for spud players. He'd be worth the investment as he'd actually give us some output for the outlay. We'd probably just on trade the pick we get for Howe leaving.

Everyone keeps comparing him to Dawes but I think it might be Watts position he takes.

Watts is versatile and should play on the wing delivering it to Lynch. Dawes is the tall who leads up and obviously doesn't do a great job of it. Lynch would be perfect to replace him with going forward.

agree that lynch more takes the role of watts than dawes.

there's room for watts. unless there's something on offer that's worth moving him for.

As LT said, Watts will be better floating between the wing and the half forward flank. A bit of positional competition for Watts is probably good anyway. He could play anywhere though.

I wouldn't mind something like

Garlett Hogan Kreuzer/Vardy

Lynch TMac Watts

Kent Brayshaw Vince

Lumumba, Frost Jetta

Salem Dunn Grimes

Gawn Jones Viney

Tyson, Cross, Petracca, Vandenberg,

----------------------------------------------

Fwd line too tall and Grimes in the backline?

Yes, it would be a 5 man forwardline, with Tmac pushing way upfield as leadup, spending a lot of time behind the centreline... Hogan would operate high forward using his mobility rotating throughout, forward of the centreline, leaving the hole behind for the 2ndRuck/Follower to create aerial pressure, with pacy & creative players about him.

Kent & Vince to drift forward when opportunities arrive.

Grimes, yes backline, as a shutdown on the smalls & mediums. leaving Salem, Jetta & Lumumba to run & create.

Mark Bickley this arvo mentioned on AA that he was pretty worried about Lynch. Was calling it a godfather offer and saying its twice as long a contract and more money that Adelaide is offering.

they were talking 4 years $2m (at least I think that's what I heard) $500k a year.

Not too far off the offer Brisbane has thrown at Jake Kolodjasnij then, who is refusing to sign.

Gotta give up a bit to attract.

I think the role will be more of finding a forward/ruck & Lynch then there will be no room for Dawes. Watts will always have a place further up the ground, Dawes is a dinosaur.

Wow, that much for the Geelong Kolodjasnij? Talk about huge overs there.

I'd understand if it was Kade, but then again, why would it be Brisbane offering a huge contract. Would've thought that it might've been GC to help keep his brother at the Suns.

Would have been a great target, but I've long had a feeling that his increasingly impressive form was going to force Adelaide's hand to retain him.

Tomlinson firmly in our sights now.

As well as their side's impressive form. Don't blame him.

I think he has been a major catalyst for their form as a whole.

Of course, he's leading the league in assists. Shows how valuable he is to them.

Staying there, with consistent finals on the horizon would have been much more alluring than making the move to the doldrums.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
