why is everyone so downbeat??? We will win this week to get everyone's hopes up again then crush them all again by losing to whoever we play the week after. Its the MFC emotional rollercoaster, get on board.

Beat collingwood only to get belted by carlton haha classic mfc

I'm surprised people still care so much. I am interested but don't see wins as a stepping stone to consistent wins anymore, not for this season anyway. This season is shot. My interest would be to see Hunt and King perhaps get game/s sometime this year, if allowable. I'm not sure if King is allowed to play a game, as he is still rookied ? I've seen enough of most of the other young players, so would like to see what these guys can offer. Most of the young guys appear to show they have some talent to work with.

So true.

We beat collingwood - MFC has turned a corner and will be going deep into the finals in 2016.

We lose to carlton - MFC will now fold and become the New Zealand Demons in 2016.

Now there is an idea New Zealand!

MFC will have to learn the Harka (excuse the ignorant spelling)

Can't be that hard for our lot.

Then again they seem to struggle with some simple things now.

I get the feeling Toumpas has played his last game for the club. I believe he will be traded out at years end and it doesn't seem like the FD have much patience with him in the seniors this season.

How did he go in the VFL?

Concussed.

Dawes out... King in.

Why not? King comes in and does nothing then he's as good as Dawes, King comes in and does something then he's better than Dawes.

Dawes does worse than nothing. He kicks underground, muffs hand passes, drops marks, misses targets, misses easy goals. A dead cat could do better.

Good to see that Neal-Bullen, off an interrupted pre-season, is already too good for VFL with 40 possessions. Funny that we weren't going to use that pick if Dom Barry and Evans stuck around, who couldn't get 40 possessions between them in 3 weeks at Casey.

All the more reason to pay out a guy like Terlich and draft in another kid.

We know that Riley, McKenzie, Bail etc aren't up to AFL level so I'm not too interested in seeing them recalled, but I would like to see Hunt play as sub, because aside from Garlett he's the only player on the list with genuine pace and we are screaming out for anyone that can break a line and take the game on. It would be so refreshing to see a Melbourne player evade an opponent and take a bounce.

It would also be great if they could give King and White a taste before the end of the year to let them know the level they need to get to in pre-season.

IN: Jamar, ANB, Newton, Hunt (sub)
OUT: VB, Stretch, Harmes, Michie

Here's what I'm thinking...

Play Jamar as ruck until we do the sub, play Gawn forward, play Dawes high on the wing. Jamar is our most known ruckman by the mids, we are winning hitouts but losing clearances, so let's try the Russian in there and see if it helps.

Gawn is killing it in contested marks, so play him forward until the sub.

Dawes will impact the contest more playing closer to the midfield more often and throwing his weight around.

Newton was very good for Casey, and knows where to run, we desperately need that also.

Hunt is pretty close to a shot, reckon he could be a great injection of pace and attack as sub this week.

Dawes won't get near a contest to impact it 'stuie' and he's too slow and would be run rings around by opponents.

Give Newton a shot, I don't care if he's not a two-way runner. Just take a risk that he'll play well offensively. We didn't use to play Sam Blease and expect him to be Dane Swan, we played him because he could hit the ball at a million miles an hour and burn off opponents. (not saying Newton can do that) Nothing worse than hearing about a talented player not adhering to "standards" in a team that's bland and boring.

I hope he hasn't but I agree it's looking more likely.. He sat out the 2nd half due to a head knock/concussion.

In: Jamar, Neal-Bullen, Toumpas

Out: Dawes, Lumumba, Stretch

B: Garland Dunn Jetta

HB: Watts McDonald Cross

C: Tyson Michie Vince

HF: Brayshaw Hogan Neal-Bullen

F: Garlett Jamar Howe

Foll: Gawn Viney Jones

I/C: vandenBerg, Grimes, Toumpas

Sub: Harmes

I was almost tempted to put Dawes in there, but we need to send a message. Jamar can stand around and be tall just as well as he can.

Grimes can't rotate through the midfield so he either starts as a defender or doesn't play.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
