Grumble, grumble, grumble

6 - Viney - again tagged and beat out Stevens. Just getting the job done.

5 - Gawn - dominated all day. Wish we could capitalise more

4 - N. Jones - wasnt going to give him votes but his 4th quarter effort was huge to try and will us to something

3 - Grimes - Still needs to get back up to speed but he offers so much off half back

2 - Howe - trade value going up, up

1 - Watts - big first half and tried to get involved in the second. Getting better.

5. Dawes. For getting us off to a great start with the clever tactic of putting his shoes on back-to-front.

4. Watts. Claiming a 2-meter mark - all class today. Almost Pendles-like with the time and space he thinks he has.

3. Roos. Garland on Nick a curve-ball they surely weren’t expecting.

2. Lamumba. Never afraid to play on and take the first option whatever that may be.

1. Tyson. Seamlessly adapting to the Melbourne blue-print after a troubled first year.

6 - Viney. Rapidly becoming an elite mid.

5 - Gawn. Rapidly becoming a real ruck.

4 - Nev. If nothing else for that monumentally late hit and then claiming that the ball had been touched. Genius.

3 - Vince. Was involved and was one of the few who did something productive when they had the chance to hit a forward.

2 - Garland. Had his work cut out against Saint Nick. Was beaten but not shamed.

1 - Brayshaw. I was amazed that he was listed as having only two tackles until I remembered that most would have been listed as effective (non) disposals or frees against due to the most influential player on the ground.

Speaking of which...

Most influential Player: Umpire Wallace, closely followed by Mollison.

Couldn't give votes to Hogan Because he missed an absolute sitter and in a low-scoring game that kills us. Likewise Garlett. Dawes both missed a sitter and shanked passes to open forwards twice in the first quarter, so he's out. Tyson cost Harmes a chance at his first AFL goal by passing behind him. Cross and Dunn ruled themselves out with loose marking which cost us goals. Jones played on when he shouldn't have repeatedly, cost us multiple goals. Watts kept trying to pinpoint passes into the corridor and missing. Once I got through all the players I couldn't vote for it was getting really hard to find someone I could.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
