Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Spot on. His name shouldn't come up in discussions for who will be left out.

Stretch showed exactly what you want to see in a young player. His composure and evasive skills in tight situations allows him more options when disposing of the ball. And even though he's not a long kick, his disposal is spot on. With greater endurance and strength he'll get to more contests, and his possession numbers will increase.

Stretch is a really good example of a young player who is clearly being 'taught' well by coaches. He takes the first option, which is more often than not the right one. If you compare this to someone like Jimmy Toumpas (originally coached by Neeld's regime), you can see he is still struggling to eradicate errors from his game, because he fails to take that first option. This is down to the early poor coaching in his career. I think Jimmy will get there though. It might take a season or two to completely erase those decision making blues, but time is on his side at 21.

This is really interesting stuff from G. Healy on how the WCE are defending.

Whatever we do we need to move the ball quickly and dont get into the trap of kicking it long down the line.

We need to run and carry and make the West Coast defenders accountable. We may well try to go small this round. An extra runner or two.

With so many possibilities, this week's selections are fascinating to say the leas! It's hard to imagine that just 12 months ago we wouldn't have been having this delightful dilemma ....... and what's more, we still have a handful of our best 22 on the sidelines. I know that the bye immediately after a great win has me starved for football, but I can't wait to see this week's team. Was anybody near Tullamarine when the boys flew out this arvo?.

i honestly have no idea what they'll do this week. playing up in darwin, going up against nicnat, hogan a definite back in, garland a maybe...

B: Jetta - Dunn - Garland

HB: Cross - T. McDonald - Lumumba

C: Tyson - N Jones - Brayshaw

HF: Watts - Dawes - Toumpas

F: Spencer - Hogan - Garlett

Foll: Gawn - Vince - Viney

I/C: ANB - Howe - Stretch

Sub: M Jones

Emerg: JKH - Bail - Riley

Given that Garland is fit, I'd say D Andrew has it about right. It will be interesting to see what percentage of the game Gawn and Spencer will be on the ground at the same time.

Yeah, but I'm not the one moaning about having a lack of time whilst bickering with Prodee. One day you'll understand the concept of humour stu.

pffft, both rank amateurs with pathetic post counts reflecting lack of content

I have changed my mind 50 times on this weeks changes. I think we bring in Hogan, go tall and sub Spencer or Gawn if its not working. Players that can run need to stay in with these conditions particularly if we go in tall so would not surprise me if Toumpas misses. Garland is a must in.

In Hogan, Garland

Out Riley, Toumpas

I'd like the Toump to get a good run, give him some further confidence and not drop him on the back of one average game.

Edit: Terrible spelling.

Agree, he was great against the saints and even if we loose we learn something about Toumpas, perhaps he has two bad games in a row or perhaps Paul puts the heat on him and he has a real impact, its his type of ground in Darwin if he can find some space...

I wasnt getting carried away...he was in our best 3, 26 disposals 5 marks 8 tackles 2 goals and more importantly put his head over the pill for once.

Wrong.

He was more then ok, besides the little slip at the end he was fantastic on the night. kicked 2 crucial goals and laid 8 tackles plus the 26 disposal to go with it. Give credit where credit is due, from where he has come from with his serious injury and form he was great that night.

We will be tall forward. But it's possible to work if we are smart with the rotations.

Hogan 85% forward.

Gawn 60% ruck, 25% forward

Howe 70% forward, 15% wing

Dawes 70% forward, 10% ruck

Spencer 30% forward, 30% forward. Subbed at 3/4 time

I think I prefer Demon Andrew's team or that of GeorgiouRRM (above) with Bail and Riley out. Although Toumpas was down on his St.Kilda performance last week, he represents our future more than Bail. Judging from Roos mid-year assessments, I don't think Roos will drop Toumpas based on him being down last week. Edited by CBDees

The trouble is if you try to be cute with rotations to cover talls it means the mids will suffer and this is not good anywhere but more particularly in Darwin.

If we go in tall then we think it will be an advantage, I'm not convinced and hope we don't.

Planning who to sub off is a recipe for disaster. Dawes or Spencer need to make way for Hogan.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
