Alex Neal-Bullen to Debut Round 11 vs St Kilda

Excited for the lad. Right from draft day where I was pumped we got ourselves a steal at pick 40 considering the Saints were tipped to pick him at pick 20 for a while.

All the best Nibbler!

Was a bit annoyed when he got rid of pick 23 but then to get a player who was imo pick 23 quality anyway in ANB, as well as Oscar Mac was just great

And Frost! Not a bad return

People don't seem to realise that Swan has excellent pace. ANB doesn't.

Probably more Sidebottom.

Why TF are we comparing him with just Collingwood players?

Anyway, I think he's more like Brody Grundy.

Swan was a skinny, (un-tattooed) kid, once too...

I'd rather the later model playing for us. & if an-b could be half as good, we are in luck.

Decimated by injuries but we've dropped a mature kid in Newton. As far as I know he isn't injured. I don't think it's the right call to play ANB quite yet.

Unlike Brayshaw, ANB didn't have a pre-season, has had issues with his knee, and still needs conditioning.

IMO it is a bad call. Of course, I will be much happier to be wrong on this one.

well we're in mid season, so he should be as fit as he can be this year, right about now... play him, he may start to run out of gas in another 4 weeks. if he tires tomorrow then sub him off.

if we can't play our reserve players when they are in a white hot patch, when will we.

they'll all need spells thru the season, & some may need rests, with a week off here and there. to freshen up. its a good ploy, especially for newbies who have jumped in over their heads. & the oldies with wearing joints.

^This. Go the Hyphens! :)

.... go the hyphen :cool:just beware of any loitering dog-genealogists, sniffing about your hyphen....

the hy-phenator :roos:

I'm glad we had the foresight to bring both ANB and Stretch into the team. Clever.

Reminds me of when we rested Scully and Trengove in the same week in 2010

All the best ANB, 1st of many kid do yourself, your family and the Demon faithful proud

But worried about his frame but fuckit. If Stretch did ok I'm sure he'll be fine. Just disappointed number 1 draft pick isn't playing so we can't beat up on him and show the world that they [censored] up.

I'm disappointed that number 2 draft pick isn't playing...

Love it! He was an absolute steal in the draft. Can't believe he slipped to pick 40.

Scouting reports suggested he didn't spread as quickly as other mids and lacked pace. In-and-under grunt mids tend to drop down the pecking order. Swan is an example although he's gotten faster with age.

I wonder when his recurrent dislocation of the patello-femoral joint will happen again?

I had a not too dissimilar problem incurred while playing squash when I was 20 years old. I looked after it and continued playing sport, albeit nowhere near an elite level and it came back twice since at recurrent intervals of 20 years. With luck ANB can do better than that and have a long, healthy career.

I wonder when his recurrent dislocation of the patello-femoral joint will happen again?

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.

WOW! MFCSS in the extreme!

Just wish the kid well then que sera, sera

Runs all day, one paced, clearance player who loves to tackle, ordinary kick, super professional. Not sure about Swan. Sounds more like a young Daniel Cross, perhaps without Cross' exceptional overhead marking.

Thank goodness the club paid out Evans/Dom Barry retired because at one stage we didn't even look like using pick 40. Safe to say that with 35 possessions at VFL level after an injury interrupted pre-season, he's going to be a much better player than Evans or Barry.

I just hope we payout Terlich and Jones at the end of the year and go and find another vandenBerg and Neal-Bullen. They're out there.

I'm disappointed that number 2 draft pick isn't playing...

I'm disappointed both our number 2 draft picks aren't playing :(.

Lenny hayes or jude bolton are good comparisons i reckon

The medicos have fixed that issue, I asked him, just unlucky first up

As for the comments on his fitness, he is another Cross, trains when he doesn't have to, both he and Stretch were really fit when they arrived at the club

He looks heavier than 76kg now.

Those stats are done pre-season and are often wrong

Lenny hayes or jude bolton are good comparisons i reckon

If we get half of their output it would be incredible.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
