You realise when Toumpas actually starts playing at a level that warrants the rating you abd others gift him then we doubters might THEN give it that rest. To date hes shown to be a quite capable SANFL player and nothing else. Hes positioning and effect in a game is not at the level needed. His kicking is that of a schoolkid...all high chips !

Im way past bothering with the "he was the wrong pick" , im simply viewing him as a player. He sums up melb perfectly for mine.

To me , even if forced by injuries, the selectors are at least mixing it up and having a look. The list is still embryonic. Some wont be on it come eos. Now is their time to show a why, or why not.We aren't playing finals this year. Some experimentation is warranted, even if maybe to the likes of Roos inconvenient.

On the surface youd expect Fitzy going back frees up Howe to go fwd. Id love to see us deploy a 3rd man up. Beats me that we dont. Still, much about our style confounds me.Our ruck only needs to deny them an ability to win easy hits to their position. If we can make the contests actual contests then mids if any good can shark whatever results. Its about getting the ball. Footy really isnt that complicated. We just make it look so.

With all this chatter about how Cordy is going to get smashed,do we all agree that if Spencer cannot completely dominate Cordy in the ruck that he should be dropped for Max Gawn next week?

Glad to see Fitzy get a run. Would like to see him get some time in the ruck also to see once and for all if he is an option for us at AFL level.

This in some ways is a bigger test for Spencer than previous weeks against some of the better teams and better ruckmen. If we are to win, Spencer will have to dominate Cordy.

Before all the negativity starts, we are a side with little depth at the moment, with 7 of our first 22 out. Not making excuses, just stating the facts.

Unfortunately we still have a couple of tough years to go, whilst we build the required depth to be a finals-competitive club. Whilst it's undeniably frustrating to watch, we have to bide our time as the processes are now in place for the future.

The only, and I mean only, reason I can fathom for Fitzpatrick's inclusion is that they're going to put him on Cordy. Ruck when Cordy's in the ruck, follow him into the forward line and defend him when he goes forward.

I literally cannot see any other reason for why he would be included. His VFL form was poor. On the weekend he played 10 minutes. I don't get it.

Problem with that of course is that I don't then see why Spencer is still in the side. If Fitzpatrick rucks most of they day vs Cordy what is Spencer going to be doing?

The fact that Bail gets a game this week is a perfect summation of how bad our depth is. His game last week was embarrassing but there simply isn't anyone else who warrants selection in his place.

I still think we can win this game but we have to pressure them from the first bounce to the end. If we don't keep the pressure on their ball carriers they'll rip us apart. If we do, though, I'm confident we can slow them down and force them into the errors they are capable of.

If you look at the results they are twice as good as us.
Four wins to two and two against the better sides in the comp.
We have beaten also rands.
The are deservedly favourites and will win by 6+ goals.

So when they played St Kilda, when they had the same four wins and St Kilda just one win, against Carlton, on your logic the Dogs would have been four times better and should have won by, what, 100 points?

They lost.

They are inconsistent. If they play their best, with the 22 we're fielding we're no chance. But if we apply pressure and force them into the kind of football they played in the second half against St Kilda, then we are every chance, despite our disgustingly bad depth.

It is fairly obvious he wants to leave.

So lets get the best deal for him.

I don't get it eithor, but looking at our forward line we have 4 talls in Hogan, Pedersen, Watts and Fitzpatrick.....this is where we can beat them but again it is going to come down to the midfield.

We look top heavy and maybe we are going tall because Paul knows that we can't match their midfield so he is taking this strategy.

They have so many runners in a Picken, Dalhaus, Bontempelli, Boyd etc we might get run off our feet.

We tend to get close though. Even in our darkest hours. We've always given this game a shake. Can't see us getting it under 4 goals now with Tyson out.

I took the Dogs at -18.5 in my multi and that's before I knew Tyson was out.
